What is a Medi-Borg?

- Species Overview -

Medi-Borgs are a closed species by Nyxium - this means you cannot create your own Medi-Borg without a MYO slot, so please see the section about how to obtain a MYO Slot if you’re unfamiliar with the concept of a closed species!-Medi-Borgs are customizable robots with a highly advanced AI system, made to be personal medical assistants for whomever may need them!They are programmed with any and all medical knowledge that they may need, and can belong to anyone, whether they be someone's personal assistant, or supply extra help for a larger hospital.They are capable of a wide variety of tasks - they can do anything from performing complicated surgeries to simply being a medication assistant. However, they can't do the impossible, such as fully curing mental illnesses - but they can provide support or therapy in these cases!Medi-Borgs’ signature features are their wired joints and the Medi-Capsules that are used as storage and always rest inside their animal ears.Medi-Borgs can be in many varying states of functionality. Functioning Medi-Borgs operate as intended, and help those in need of medical assistance. If they happen to malfunction, their desire to assist others can warp into a desire to cause harm. Medi-Borgs can also become infested with toxic fluid, or exhibit a variety of glitches.

Medi-Borg Inc. is the company behind Medi-Borgs and their creation.They create pre-made Medi-Borgs to sell, as well as take custom orders.Though their creations are extremely high-tech, the working conditions and production quality can be somewhat questionable, leading to many instances of Medi-Borgs being lazily produced with malfunctions or accidental glitches.If you experience an issue with the Medi-Borg you have purchased, don’t even bother trying to contact the company; they have a strict no-return policy.-More detailed lore may be coming in the future!

- Adoptables -

Want to adopt a pre-made Medi-Borg design?We regularly release pre-made Medi-Borgs able to be purchased!
We have a wide assortment of designs made by both the species’ creator Nyxium, as well as our team of other mods and guest artists!The best place to find new Medi-Borg adoptables is over on our Discord server.
This is usually the first place they are posted as well, so by joining the Discord, you can get first dibs on new designs as soon as they are available!Adoptables are often posted on the Mod Deviantart account, however they are posted here later than Discord, after some of the designs from the set may have already sold!

- Creating your MYO -

After obtaining your MYO Slot, please carefully view our Trait Sheet to help understand the traits you may use while designing your Medi-Borg!You may use any amount of traits from the same rarity as your MYO slot or below.For example: Common MYO Slots may only use common traits, while Rare MYO Slots may use Rare and Common traits. If you have an “Admin” MYO Slot, you may use any of the traits on this sheet.Anything seen on the separate Admin Exclusive Trait Sheet may not be used when designing a MYO unless the person designing is on our official admin team.

- Submitting your MYO -

Currently we are only taking MYO Approvals through our Discord Server.Please join our Discord server and head over to the #myo-approvals channel to submit your finished design for approval. Please check the pinned message for the submission form to fill out and submit alongside your design itself!Please make sure to include a valid MYO Slot to be used when submitting a MYO or custom design for approval.

- How to Earn Pills -

You can earn our digital currency, Pills, by creating artwork or literature featuring characters of the Medi-Borg species! (Must be an official adopt or approved MYO)Pills can also be earned on any artwork you have commissioned from Nyxium or another member of our official admin team (Pills cannot be earned on commissioned artwork from someone outside of our team members)More detailed information on earning Pills can be found in the Pills Guide section of the Pharmacy, our currency shop!To submit your works to redeem Pills, join our Discord server and head over to the #pill-logging-and-store channel. Check the pinned message for the submission form and fill it out, attaching the artwork you would like to turn in for Pills!

Do you accept guest artists?

New guest artist positions are not usually available - however, we do periodically host guest artist applications for special events - please join our Discord server if you are interested in any opportunities to be a guest artist!

Can I become a mod?

We are not currently looking for any new additions to the admin team.

Traits, Designs, and Re-Designs

What traits can I use when creating a Medi-Borg?

You can use any traits the same rarity or lower than your MYO slot. For example, if you have a Rare MYO slot, you may use as many rare and common traits as you would like, but cannot use any mythic or glitch traits. Additionally, you may obtain add-ons for single traits of a higher rarity than your general MYO slot.

Do malfunctioning Medi-Borgs always need to have blood leaking from their Medi-Capsules?

Yes, blood leaks from their capsules at all times.

Do toxic Medi-Borgs always need to have toxic fluid leaking from their Medi-Capsules and joints?

Yes, toxic fluid leaks from both their capsules and joints at all times.

Can Medi-Borgs have tattoos, scars, or other bodily markings?

Yes they can! Body stitching, however, is a Halloween seasonal trait.

Can I make a design inspired by or based off of a pre-existing character?

You may make designs inspired by or based off of any characters from media such as TV shows, video games, etc. as long as they are not an exact copy or extremely similar. Please do not take heavy inspiration or copy any other artist’s personal OC or designs.

Can I create a Medi-Borg hybrid with another species?

You need permission from both species creators to do this - please contact Nyxium to ask about specific instances of this.

Can I convert an existing design to a Medi-Borg?

Yes, as long as you have permission from the original designer and a MYO slot.

Can I re-design my Medi-Borg?

Yes, as long as the original designer of your Medi-Borg has no rules against it.Rules on free re-designs with no add-ons:
- You may not change any traits to a higher rarity (example: you may not change a common cat tail to a rare dragon tail)
- You may not add any new traits when re-designing without any purchased add-ons (example: you may not add horns to a Medi-Borg without any)
- You may downgrade higher rarity traits to a lower rarity (example: you may change a rare dragon tail to a common cat tail)
- You may remove any optional traits (example: you may remove horns)
- You may swap any optional traits to an optional trait of equal or lesser rarity (example: you may remove rare mechanical wings, and replace them with rare I.V. bags)Rules on re-designs with purchased add-ons:
- If you have purchased a single trait add-on, you may add one new trait of that rarity.
- If you have purchased a full rarity upgrade, you may add as many traits from that rarity or lower to your Medi-Borg as you would like, but it is a one-time use. Once your new design is approved, you will have to purchase another add-on if you would like to add more traits at a later time.Please re-submit your Medi-Borg for approval if you alter any of their traits - design changes such as hair and clothing do not need to be re-submitted for approval. However, please do not alter the design so much that it is completely unrecognizable from the old design.

Can I use a second MYO slot to upgrade an older Medi-Borg design to a higher rarity than it originally had?

Yes! Please make sure to re-submit your Medi-Borg for approval if you make any design changes that change any of its original traits, regardless of rarity.

Can I sell my Medi-Borg design?

You may resell adopts for the price they were originally purchased for + any purchased art. Gifted, traded, or personal art does NOT add to the price.You may resell a completed and approved MYO design for the price of the slot purchased, as well as any purchased art. If the slot was not purchased using real money, then you may only resell for the price of purchased art. Gifted, traded, or personal art does NOT add to the price.If you are in a financial emergency, please contact Nyxium, and you may be able to have your Medi-Borg approved for resale if it would not otherwise be eligible to be resold.

MYO Slots

Can I sell my MYO slot?

You may resell a MYO slot if it was purchased with real currency. The price must be the same as what it was purchased for.MYO slots obtained without spending money, such as through a trade, a raffle, a prize, or purchased with our digital currency Pills, may never be sold for real money, though they can be traded or gifted.

__How do I get a MYO Slot?

There are many ways to get a MYO slot - they can be purchased with real currency from the MYO Shop, purchased with our digital currency Pills from the Pharmacy, or you can join our Discord server for opportunities to win one through various games or raffles that we may host!

__I was gifted/traded a Mod MYO slot from an admin. What traits can I use?
__

You can use any amount of common, rare, mythic, or glitch traits with a Mod MYO slot!

If I have a Mod MYO slot, can I use admin exclusive traits?

No - Admin exclusive traits are only to be used by admins when they are designing a Medi-Borg, regardless of the MYO slot being used.

Species Lore

Do I have to exactly follow the species Lore?

Not exactly! The lore of the Medi-Borg Inc. company is mostly optional to allow more freedom with your OC’s story. It’s a great starting point if you need some help creating lore for your Medi-Borg! However, Medi-Borgs should always at least follow the basis of the species, such as being intended as a medical assistant robot, the way they are built and the way their systems work, the way functionality types behave, etc.

How advanced are Medi-Borgs' AI systems?

They are extremely advanced. Medi-Borgs are fully capable of free thought and a range of emotions.

Can you fix a malfunctioning, toxic, or glitch Medi-Borg?

No, there is no known way to revert any other type of Medi-Borg back to functioning. Once a functioning Medi-Borg has turned into any of these types, it is permanent.

Can I draw my Medi-Borg as a different functionality type?

Functioning Medi-Borgs may never be drawn as malfunctioning, toxic, or glitch.
Malfunctioning, toxic, or glitch Medi-Borgs may occasionally be drawn as their previous functioning self, however we ask that you keep this to a minimum, and clearly state that it is their past self.
Medi-Borgs cannot switch back and forth between functioning types freely.

Can Medi-Borgs eat or drink?

Yes. They can taste, but have no internal organs to process the food, so it will be detected as a foreign substance by their systems and disintegrated.

Can Medi-Borgs get wet?

Yes, they are highly resistant to water, as long as there are no damaged or broken parts that water could seep into.

Can Medi-Borgs feel?

Yes, they can feel the sensation of touch.

Do Medi-Borgs have genitals?

Genitals are optional. They have no internal organs, however, and thus cannot reproduce, even if they do have functional genitals.

Are Functioning Medi-Borgs always good?
Are Malfunctioning Medi-Borgs always bad?

Generally, yes. Functioning Medi-Borgs will naturally avoid harming others, while Malfunctioning Medi-Borgs will naturally desire to harm others. However, it’s not always black and white - for example, Functioning Medi-Borgs will still want to obey their owners’ wishes, even if they are commanded to do something wrong. While their moral compass may deter them, they may still follow these orders just to please their owners. On the other hand, Malfunctioning Medi-Borgs do not always need to be murder machines.

Pills (Digital Currency)

Can I earn Pills on drawings made with a base?

Only if the base is created completely by yourself - work made using assets from anyone other than yourself is ineligible for earning Pills.

Can I earn Pills on drawings of Medi-Borgs made for a trade?

Yes, as long as you were not paid to create a drawing, it is eligible to earn Pills.

Can I earn Pills on drawings I commission from any artist?

No, you can only earn Pills on drawings you have commissioned from a member of our official admin team.

Can I earn Pills on the initial drawing / reference sheet I made to create my Medi-Borg?

Yes, as long as it’s not on a base made by someone else!

Can I earn extra Pills for animation?

Yes! The amount of Pills earned will be assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on how much work has gone into the animation.

__Can I earn Pills on art mediums other than drawings or writing?

Yes! The amount of Pills earned will also be assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on how much work has gone into your creation. It would help if you provided some details on how long your creation took, the process, etc to help us judge this!

Can I transfer my Pills to another user?

Pills are non transferrable, but you may purchase something with Pills from the Pharmacy as a gift for another user.

Terms of Service

You automatically agree to our terms of service by owning a Medi-Borg.

- General Community Rules -

  • Medi-Borgs are made with a lot of love and hard work by Nyxium and the mod team. Do not plagiarize distinguishing Medi-Borg traits or lore!

  • When interacting with the community you must be respectful. Any hateful, derogatory, or overly aggressive speech will not be tolerated.

  • Begging or guilt tripping of any sort is not allowed in the community.

  • With Medi-Borgs being medical based, we understand that some themes in the species may be sensitive. We ask that all members stay respectful and understanding of these themes and mindful of the issues that real people face.

- Crediting -

  • When posting a Medi-Borg to Toyhouse, please be sure to credit the proper artists who made the characters. The designer of the character should go into the “creator” link.

  • After your Medi-Borg's profile has been created, please be sure to add them to the Toyhouse World! This helps us to keep track of official designs.

- MYO Creation -

  • You may only make your own Medi-Borg if you have an official MYO slot (or other instances such as during a MYO event).

  • Please do not take heavy inspiration or copy other people's personal characters.

  • You may not make Medi-Borg versions of official media characters. However, you may create a Medi-Borg inspired by said media. For example: Making Sailor Moon into a Medi-Borg is not okay, but making a Medi-Borg that is a Sailor Scout is ok.

  • Myo approvals are done through our Discord server - please send them in the #myo-approval channel.

- Trading/Reselling General Rules -

  • When a Medi-Borg has been resold, traded, or gifted, you must make an update about it on the DeviantArt Masterlist. (If you do not own a Deviantart account, please contact a mod and we can do this for you!)

  • Adopts and MYOs may only be resold if purchased using real money. If you buy something using our digital currency Pills, you may not resell it for real money, though you can still trade or gift it.

  • If you need to sell your Medi-Borg due to a financial emergency but it is not eligible for reselling, you may contact Nyxium and may be able to request an exception.

- Trading/Reselling Adopts -

  • Please be sure to read the original artist's TOS before reselling.

  • You may resell adopts for the price they were originally purchased for + any purchased art. Gifted, traded, or personal art does NOT add to the price.

  • You may trade or gift away an adopt. The person the adopt was traded to may not resell the adopt unless they have personally commissioned art for them. The price may only take into account personal purchases, not overall character purchases.

- Trading/Reselling MYOs -

  • You may resell a MYO slot if it was purchased with real currency. The price must be the same as what it was purchased for. MYO slots traded, gifted, or won may NOT be resold for any monetary value.

  • You may resell a completed and approved MYO design for the price of the slot purchased, as well as any purchased art. If the slot was not purchased using real money, then you may only resell for the price of purchased art. Gifted, traded, or personal art does NOT add to the price.

- Portrayal of Medi-Borg Types -

  • You may draw or write about your malfunctioning or toxic Medi-Borg before they became broken for backstory development. However, we ask that you keep this limited and clearly stated that it is their past self rather than the current them.

  • You may commission art of your malfunctioning or toxic Medi-Borg before they became broken. We ask that you keep such art to a minimum and use it only to explore their backstory.

  • Functioning Medi-Borgs may not be depicted as any type besides functioning.

- Re-Design Rules -
