Most shapeshifting creatures present in England and France are of Celtic origin, although some werewolves claim to be related to those sprite-like creatures who have one human form and one animal form. Opinions on shapeshifters vary wildly from place to place. In some cases they are regarded as benevolent spirits of nature, but in others they are mere vermin like all other creatures of the night.
