Muralists

Those Who Came Before

Those Who Came Before (also known as Muralists, Ancients (not to be confused with ancient ferraen) and Imbrogio-Builders) were a prehistoric sophant species responsible for the construction of the Imbroglio, the Lighthouse, and Northern Point. They were highly skilled in the act of genetic manipulation and the act of constructing unique lifeforms and are the original source of the Commenticia phylum.

Much of this species' surviving recorded history was transcribed into great murals, found exclusively within the Imbroglio. Much of these murals are indecipherable due to the vast difference between their cultural beliefs and the cultural beliefs of Enurian's currently extant sophant species. Most murals depict one or more flat-faced, hexapodal creatures, though only their middle legs seem to be used for walking, with a thin prehensile tail. These are believed to be depictions of the Muralists themselves. The actual content and context of these murals have been lost to time.

The exact cause and reason for the Muralists' extinction is unknown, however, based on the relative intactness of their cities and living spaces it was likely a quick and sudden event.
