RW: Deluge
An OC-Focused Rain World AU . . .
The world changed when news of Sliver of Straw's mysterious demise spread to the surrounding Iterator population. As everyone hurried to find out what she discovered and how she died, the wilderness outside began to creep through the thick walls, reaching for the heart of the facility.
Oblivious to all the commotion, all manner of organisms began to move in, though some had lived there long before the event. A colony of Slugcats reside inside of Sliver's can, safe from harm and largely unaware of the true weight of the situation - saddened by her death, but unknowing of the significance.
In the end, none of that matters now. The earth is reclaiming its territory, and a new cycle has finally started unfolding. What was once built with the intention of escaping this Great Cycle has become the vessel through which it continues.
Deluge is, ultimately, a passion project. The ideas are similar in magnitude to Rain World: Downpour, wherein we take the already existing timeline and expand upon it so much that it becomes its own thing. The difference is that pre-existing characters have very little presence in this story. We instead wanted to hold a light up to the dim and unclear details of the past, and make something of our own.
The story itself is an exploration of the beginning of a long, withering end. Through the eyes of the local fauna, life-long questions finally have their answers...
Of course, as is the nature of everything, sometimes the answers we seek will only leave us with more questions.
The Facility

What remains of the legendary Sliver of Straw is arguably just as noteworthy as her achievements. Her Facility, although the dying legacy of a soon-to-be forgotten civilization, has become a home to all who wander. Life, both new and old, has made its place in her now-still heart, growing inwards and outwards - a new heart beating in place of hers.
