Mountain Willowhips are one of the three subtribes of willows. They typically live in colder climates such as the artic, tundras, or mountains. They posses a thick layer of fur that allows them to survive the extreme temperatures. If they ever want to leave the harsh weather, they require magic so they don't overheat. Mountains who stay in warm climates for long periods of time begin to thin their fur, turning it to more of a silky consistancy instead of a rougher, denser one. Mountain willows' personality reflects their habitat: cold, hard, brutal. They aren't around to make friends, they're out to survive. While the other two tribes will try to avoid Abysmals, Mountain willows will actively seek out fights with them.

If a family member dies, they may request their orb to be passed onto another. It is a great honor and the ceremony takes place during the funeral. If the selected member chooses not to accept the orb OR the dying member does not select a member to inherit the orb, it will lose its magical abilities once they pass away. It will resemble a spherical stone with engraved markings on it.

However, if a willow is killed (either by another willow or an abysmal), their orb will lose all magical properties and simply hover for a few minutes until another host claims it. If it is not claimed, it will fall to the ground as a normal rock.

Baby willows often have very muted colors to better blend into their surroundings and hide from potential enemies. Once they get older, their colors pop out more. When they become of age, there is a ceremony to celebrate their 'true colors'.

APPEARANCE + OTHER

Mountain Willowhips have large amounts fur. They use this dense fluff to survive their incredibly harsh conditions.

Dispite what you may think, Mountain willows love to decorate things. Their homes, their land, their bodies. You name it, its got accessories on it.

They are able to have many more minor traits, such as spines in addition to the fur, two pairs of horns, feathers and beads woven into their fur, multiple orbs, incredibly decorative masks, and jewlery beyond your wildest dreams.

Mountain Willowhips only need to feed off of moonlight, however they are capable of eating physical food if nessisary. Usually for events, parties, and celebrations, physical foods are considered a treat/delicacy.

Whenever they DO end up eating physical food, they can be found consuming meat and fish. Plants don't really survive up there, so what they do consume, they have imported from the other tribes.

They live in a Monarchy, where the Queen rules over the tribe. However, the Queen is not there to be served, but rather, to serve. Her duty is to protect and keep the tribe stable. She is in charge of keeping peace throughout her followers as well as the other two tribes and their followers. The Queen is not chosen through genetics, but rather through the choice of the Moon. Once a Queen passes away, the physical manifestation of the moon, Amaris, will come forward and declare a new Queen in private. The new Queen is aloud to decline, should she choose that it is too much responsibiliy. In that case, Amaris will choose another suitor.

Royalty are simply there to aid the Queen in her duties protecting the tribe. They can serve the Queen their entire lives or just a few days, there is no traditional time limit.

Days to Celebrate: Day of Ice, the coldest and shortest day in the arctic region (December 13th), True Colors, a coming-of-age celebration for young willows (dates vary), and Day of Life, when royalty was born (dates vary).

Willowhips are asexual creatures. They do not have male or female parts. Instead, they reproduce through the magic held inside of their orbs. They focus their individual magic onto a suitable stone, and combine it together to form a new type of magic. The now enchanted rock (aka, egg) will grow for the next full year and will hatch into a baby willowhip.

Please note that willows cannot cross breed!! A Savannah Willow cannot create a child with a Cavern or Mountain, or vise versa.

To answer the question about pronouns, they usually just choose what they want once they come of age, but its not uncommon for them to change throughout their lives. Specific 'genders' don't have specific roles in willow society, its just a way to address each other.

Willowhips are not an open species!! We are not selling myos at the moment, but we do host ocasional myo events. The most common way to obtain one is through adopts/customs made by registered willow staff. You can find out more about us on our discord, which can be found on the front page

General Rules: Don't remove your mask in public, do not cause harm upon others if they are unaware (stabbing someone in the back), and don't, under ANY circumstances, make contact with Abysmals.

Mountain Willowhips are incredibly sturdy. Most of them are INCREDIBLY beautiful and decorate themselves with various pieces of jewelry and adornments. They also decorate their masks with gems and paints they buy from other tribes.

Feathers are not commonly found in tundras, so arctic willows will often trade with cavern or savannah willows for feathers and other colorful items.

Some arctic willows have the ability to breathe a frost breath, but even a few have the power to create an entire snowstorm out of it! Most of the stronger willows are born with the power to create 'flurries' but very few are actually able to train themselves to harness the abilities.

Their orbs actually create a field of heat around them. Their fur coats help them with any cracks their orbs miss. They can put a bit of their heat magic into another object and give it to their guests, allowing them to come into their ice-cold homes. But once it leaves the cold, it loses its abilities and turns back into an ordinary object.

When they leave the tundras, they reverse the heat into cold so they can comforably survive in the warmer regions and not get heatstroke.
