Cherubies are comparable to fallen 'angels', similarly exiled for their lust for power and defiance towards the higher order. These reincarnated souls are adventurous creatures that are not afraid of consequences. Each one is unique to themselves and have the ability to choose their own path in their afterlife.

The Origins

The origins of the cherubies start where oneโ€™s mortality ends. Upon death, stray souls are taken away by foreign gods into the realm of Nirvana where they live in harmony.

The gods of Nirvana, despite their godhood, are limited in power and cannot create life. However, they are capable of changing other life forms by means of transmutation. Favoring the human world for their extensive population and nearby availability as a dimensional neighbor, the gods covet these human souls to populate their own world.

Citizens manifest into a new form taking after popular angelic iconography, gifted pure wings and beaming halos, they are lovingly dubbed divine angels for their resemblance. These are not true angels, however, sporting canine ears, equine hooves, and bridles to match, they are a creature of their own. Their general appearance represents their beauty and strength, their bridles for loyalty, and their bodies are permanently scarred with their cause of deathโ€”sometimes symbolically.

These angels were given magical gifts and assisted their gods in creating paradise, each playing a part in keeping the world harmonious. Amongst the angels were chosen elites, these special souls were trusted with leading their fellow angels, blessed with extraordinary power and taking on a different form. Together in Nirvana, they strived for a mutually beneficial relationship filled with peaceful days.

The War

Even in this cultivated idyllic place akin to oblivion, there will always be the contrarians. Uninterested in building a world under the influence of foreign gods, they used their surprising deviance to their advantage and sparked a war, aiming to take Nirvana for their own. For a world made in their own vision, their own power, they first must overthrow the gods.

The Exile

The war was a brutal battle lasting centuries and only stopped by the divine intervention of removing all the traitorous angels entirely, exiled by the God of Justice. To punish these acts of treason, their bridles were cursed to restrict their gifted powers and their ears were marked with unique identifiers announcing their crimes.

Purged to a newly made realm within Nirvana, the gods have intended it to be a place of suffering. However, they were filled with too much mercy and were unable to punish them with eternal torment. So instead, they left these new beings, now dubbed cherubies, to their own devices on this new realm where they could establish themselves on their own whims.

The Aftermath

Initially Idiatria had strict rules enforced by Elites. Cherubies had no magical powers and could not leave Idiatria, not even death would release them as they continued to reincarnate so long as they remained in Nirvana. They could build society as they wished, some chose to make new lives here, others wanted to appeal to their gods with benevolence in hopes of returning to Ilysion, and there are even those that still hold ill will towards Nirvana and their godsโ€”plotting their revenge.

Not all residents of Idiatria were exiled here by force. Some take on the punishment willingly, drawn over by friends, families, or any other means. Every cheruby has their own reasoning that might not necessarily have to do with their collective crimes.

Over the thousands of years the rules have relaxed and become nearly non-existent. Though elites are still expected to help enforce a general sense of order. The general improvement of the cheruby population granted them leniency over the many millennia that passed. They eventually earned the ability to travel for a limited time, briefly charged with the magic from the gates. This allowance was intended to promote self improvement through exposure to foreign culturesโ€”it doesnโ€™t always pan out that way but there is never a sure way for the elites or their gods to know so far from home.

Besides, their old gods are too busy coddling their divine angels back in Ilysion. They care little about Idiatria as long as they arenโ€™t causing Nirvana trouble.

About Nirvana

Nirvana, now divided as a multi-layered dimensional world consisted of the two realms:

Ilysion, where the divine angels and elites continue to build a paradise for themselves and their gods. Cherubies are prohibited from entry and will be swiftly removed if found.

Idiatria, where the cherubies reside with newly found agency. Divine angels are prohibited from entry, if they chose to go to Idiatria they will be demoted to a cheruby and unable to return from where they came. Elites on the other hand are capable of traveling between Ilysion and Idiatria freely.

About Traveling

All residents of Nirvana can travel to other dimensions and worlds through travel gates. These gates are supervised by elites and allow cherubies to travel to their world of choice for a limited time up to a month. Accessing the gate temporarily releases the curse on their bridles in order to give them enough power to travel. The curse will slowly reinstate itself and once it is back in place, cherubies will find themselves back at their last used gate.

Besides public travel gates, Nirvana is also filled with hidden gates. These gates are used and supervised by Elites to keep formal relations with the other worlds. Cherubies are not authorized to use them but some stumble upon them and like to take their chances. It doesnโ€™t help that they rarely keep their mouths shutโ€”word spreads quickly.

About Magic

Impure cherubies are unable to produce magic like the corrupted or the elite. They may borrow power from other sources through witchcraft or alchemy as well as use magically powered items.

Corrupt cherubies are more powerful than impures. Breaking through some of the restraint of their bridleโ€™s curse, they are able to harness different elements within the world and manipulate them to varying effects.

Elites are still blessed with the magic from their gods and can use them freely. Their powers manifest in many creative ways but are usually limited to one or two talents.

About Death

Weirdly, cherubies can age even in the afterlife, however, they cannot die. Even when a cheruby supposedly passes of old age, they will be reborn at the age of their original death. Anytime a cheruby dies they will simply wake up from a deep sleep.

This is a form of punishment for the cherubies, stuck in a never ending cycle and remaining in the world the gods have made that is neither hell or heaven. Cherubies are not exactly immortal however, if they suffer extreme damage or die in a foreign dimension, their soul will be lost and will not return to Nirvana to be reborn.

About Rarities

Nirvana consists of the following rarity types:

Divine - UNAVAILABLE
Divine angels, also known simply as angels, are pure souls that work along side their gods to build paradise in Ilysion. Rarely ever seen outside of their realm, they keep to their own.

Impure - AVAILABLE - MYO Sales, Item Shop, Events, Adopts
Impure Cherubies, also known as common cherubies, are the fallen souls tainted with the collective crime of treason against the gods now residing in Idiatria. Commonly but not always everyday citizens finding their own way through their afterlife.

Corrupt - AVAILABLE - MYO Sales, Item Shop, Events, Adopts
Corrupt Cherubies, also known as rare cherubies, are fallen souls with stronger wills which allows them to access elemental magic and manifest unique physical traits that make them stand out. Commonly but not always citizens who aspire to be in positions of power and/or influence.

Elite - AVAILABLE - Staff Adopts, Event Specials
Elite Cherubies, also known as special cherubies, are unique souls blessed by the gods. Magically powerful and the very image of beauty, they serve the gods of Nirvana by keeping the order: guarding the gates, eliminating threats, and guiding their fellow angels to assure a pleasant stayโ€”though it is not rare to find elites doing other jobs. They are commonly found to be very intelligent and skilled in their tasks.

Though they can be called cherubies, they are not fallen angels nor are they being punished like them. The name comes from their preferred place of residence being in Idriatria rather than Ilysion given that they can traverse between Ilysion and Idiatria freely.
