The City of Anchorcrest:
Affectionately bestowed the name of "Sea Folk," the residents of the City of Anchorcrest hail from far and wide. What once began as a small fishing hamlet quickly developed into a bustling oceanside community. Its plenteous resources—thanks to the Sea Herself—attracted many a creature to explore and eventually settle in this growing metropolis, bringing with them their various wares and expertise. Through the growth of its inhabitants, Anchorcrest is currently well-known for its jovial yet industrious atmosphere, all the while retaining its quaint fishing village charm.

Those who choose to make Anchorcrest their home are in some ways, however, relinquishing their ease of travel and their connection with the rest of the world, for the Slumbering Peaks border the North and Baneswood almost the entire expanse of the East...

Although initially recognized for its sizable fishing economy, as the city grew, its inhabitants made an alliance, so to speak, with the Sea: never would they take from the Sea more than She could replenish. Thus, while a fishing village at heart, Anchorcrest chose to focus on the other strengths of its inhabitants in order to sustain the itself. Therefore, the City of Anchorchrest currently thrives through fishingtrade, and tourism.

Many choose to visit this oceanside city to bask in its pristine beaches, sample various local delicacies (seafood or not), and buy from and trade with its various artisans. Merchants from around the world sail into the city through its harbor bearing exotic spices, vibrant fabric, expertly crafted furnishings, and various other foreign wares. Yet others save their visits for Anchorcrest's yearly festivities celebrating its rich history and varied culture. Anchorcrest has much to offer... as long as one is willing to brave either the Sea, the mountains, or those cursed woods to reach it...

Notable Locations:

Herman's Bluff: A promontory that lies in the NW corner of the city. On top of this piece of rock sits The Lighthouse which overlooks both Anchrocrest and the Sea

The Lighthouse: A rather simple name for what's informally referred to by locals as the "City's Guardian." The Lighthouse greets every ship that docks in Seastrand Harbor. Attached to The Lighthouse is the Lightkeepers' quarters

Seastrand Harbor: The main harbor. Most of the larger ships dock in this area, and many consider it the main hangout for sailors and fishermen alike

Westings: Also known as "The Piers." Aptly named for its location on Anchorcrest, Westings houses many of the seafood restaurants and some of the local fish market stands

Water's Edge: The collective name for the fishing district. The fishing district contains a majority of the various fish market stands set up and run by the local fishermen and their families. Water's Edge is overseen by its own separate council

Mershore: Refers to the stretch of beach in the SW. Pristine and beautiful, these beaches are well-enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Its mystery contributes to its allure, for rumors have it that certain creatures lurk in its depths...

Treblum: Refers to the NE sector of Anchorcrest. Best known for its agricultural focus, Treblum's landscape and atmosphere varies greatly from the rest of the city, partially because its sloping plains border Slumbering Peaks. Here, the inhabitants raise livestock and grow produce, both to help sustain the city and trade with Anchorcrest's neighbors

Some Notable Businesses:

Sunny Shore Bakery: A prominent and cheery bakery. Established several years ago, the quality of its baked goods as well as its routine experimentation with new products quickly won the heart of the city
The building itself is tucked away into the SW district, attracting customers from all over, including ones from neighboring villages

A Cut Above: A high-end yet affordable salon which admittedly... looks out of place thanks to its seemingly riff-raff owners. A Cut Above supplies its clients with a high-energy atmosphere and excellent service, whether the request is a simple trim or a full-blown makeover. Nails, hair, makeup, this salon offers it all. Special requests can even be made to //coughs// lower the energy
A Cut Above is located in the NW district, though not too far from the city square

Tinker Toys: The most varied toy store in the city. A child's dream, Tinker Toys regularly cycles through its stock and showcases numerous playthings, from classics such as paddle ball to those more current and with electronic components. Tinker Toys prides itself on allowing its customers to try out its merchandise, making it a popular destination for those who just want some childish fun
Due to its previous owner's diligence, this site is located rather close to the city square
