Personality

⭐ dreamy & imaginative ⭐
"never let it be said that to dream is a waste of one's time,
for dreams are our realities in waiting.
in dreams, we plant the seeds of our future."

At first glance, one might have the misconception that Lucai is a shy and reserved individual, but that is not the case at all. He's probably off roaming the lands, swimming in the wide, wide ocean, chasing the birds high above the treetops... all in his mind. His favourite place to tend to his colourful imagination is under an ancient tree in the heart of the forest.

⭐ playful ⭐
"the soul is infinitely creative.
it is alive and expansive in nature.
it is curious and playful, changing with the tides of time.

Lucai has a playful temperament, he enjoys games, witty exchanges aka lame puns, and a little harmless teasing. He can often be found partaking in games of chase, hide-and-seek and so on with his friends.

⭐ cheerful ⭐
"wondrous is the strength of cheerfulness,
and its power of endurance."

His happy-go-lucky and optimistic personality makes him a wonderful individual to be around. He is rarely without a smile on his face, and that smile is contagious. He always tries to look on the bright side of things, and firmly believes that nothing good will come if you have a negative outlook on life. This does, however, make him a little bit naive.

⭐ adventurous ⭐
"if we were meant to stay in one place,
we'd have roots instead of feet."

Lucai has a passion for exploring that can never be quelled. He wants to experience new things, and tends to stray a little too far from home. Luckily, his friends are always there to guide this little explorer safely home. Lucai dreams of moving away from the forest once he's old enough to travel around Loriene before settling down somewhere scenic. Even then, he probably wouldn't sit still for long...

⭐ determined ⭐
"a dream doesn't become reality through magic;
it takes sweat, determination, and hard work."

Lucai knows that in order to achieve his dream of seeing the world, he needs to conquer his fear of flying. Getting over a fear is no easy feat, but his determination to succeed has paid off. Now that he's able to fly above the treetops, he's one step closer to soaring through the skies and realizing his dream.

⭐ inquisitive ⭐
"ignorance killed the cat,
curiosity was framed!"

His adventurous soul makes him naturally inquisitive. Much like he has a passion for exploring, he also has a passion for learning. He enjoys listening to tales from his elders as he knows there is always something new to learn from people every day. He also likes chatting with the forest creatures and learning the hidden ways of their kind and the many secrets of the old forest that they call home.

History

Lucai was born (or hatched, if you will) into a very respected bloodline. His parents were both powerful and well-respected among their kind. His father was dubbed the 'Lord of the Skies' and his mother was the Oracle, able to catch glimpses of the near future and speak to spirits. Naturally, people expected a lot when his parents announced that they were expecting, but they were in for the shock of their lives when it was time for him to take to the skies.

He'd taken one look at the sheer drop and clung to his mother for dear life. It didn't help that almost every forest-dwelling dragon was there to witness his first flight. Embarrassed and surprised, his father had apologized and chalked it off as 'first time jitters'. Yet, he failed to take the leap day after day after day. Each time, he made an excuse.

But he never told them the truth- that he was afraid of heights and afraid of flying. In time, the others lost interest in him and as his parents became increasingly busy, Lucai found himself with a lot of time on his hands. He wandered the forest, discovering many new things that he found strange and interesting. He rarely socialized with his peers as they'd much rather be in the sky than on the ground, so he made friends with the woodland creatures; sprites, faeries, deer and the like.

"Freedom lies in your wings; you need only spread them."

Soft, golden rays caressed his cheek, signalling the start of the day. The air was cool and fresh, the only remnant of last night's storm was its disappearing scent. Lucai sat near the edge of a cliff overlooking the beautiful forest that he called home. He drank in the sight of the sun slowly making its ascent into the fading lavender sky.

He had always loved watching the sunrise. It signified the start of a new day, a new beginning, a blank page in the book of life that he was free to fill with whatever he wanted.

His claws dug into the damp soil. Today was the day he would finally conquer his fear, today was the day he would fly free like the rest of his kin. Lucai inched closer to the edge, keeping his eyes focused on the bright horizon before him. If he squinted, he could just make out the white shores and the glittering sea beyond. Oh, how he longed to see those shores for himself. He'd listened to countless tales from the dragons who'd flown back and forth, tales of strange yet beautiful creatures that lived in the cerulean waters, of the colourful plants that grew by the ocean, and best of all, of the dragons that lived on the isles even further beyond.

These dragons were unlike anything they had ever seen, or so he'd been told. He listened, enraptured, to tales of massive scaled bodies, strong powerful tails, and shimmering fins that they used to maneuver themselves underwater. According to the adventurers, they were much larger than their kind who dwelt in the forest, and they did not fly.

He would give anything to see those shores and perhaps catch a glimpse of these mighty dragons, but to even come close to realizing his dream, he needed to get over his fear of heights and flying.

Lucai took a deep breath and chanced a downwards glance. The sight was nothing new to him, he'd spent many days looking down and deciding that life was more precious than learning how to fly. It wasn't as if he couldn't, it was just that he didn't like to fly at great heights. Hovering a few feet above the ground was perfectly fine for him.

Today however, the fifty foot drop did not bother him one bit. Today, he was going to take to the skies once and for all, and never look back. Lucai strengthened his resolve, puffing his chest out a little. He spread his tiny wings and hovered a little bit above the ground, getting used to the feel. He knew there was really nothing for him to fear, for if he fell, his magic would catch him before any serious harm came to him. That was the blessing given to the forest-dwelling dragons. He just... really hated heights.

Lucai dropped back to the ground and clenched his jaw. It was time. He took a couple steps back, and closed his eyes. He thought of the endless ocean that awaited him, thought of the joy that flying brought to his kin. When he opened his blue-gold eyes, he was ready. The young dragon broke into a run and launched himself off the edge of the cliff, stretching his little wings out.

'Don't look down, don't look down,' he chanted. He kept his eyes trained on the horizon ahead of him as the wind ruffled his reddish fur. He stayed like that, fifty feet in the air for a couple moments. And then he looked down.

The sight of the forest floor beneath him didn't faze him today, and he didn't feel the usual rush of fear when he looked down. No, today he was finally able to fly, like the rest of his kin. And slowly, he would join them in the sky, weaving through the fluffy clouds and feeling the rush of wind against his wings and fur. And then he would go to the glittering sea and see all there was to see, and return with his own magical tales for the others.

Lucai smiled. The birds were beginning to sing their songs, and the forest was waking up. He would colour today's page with new experiences and excitement, and it would definitely be a day to remember.
