. . . . LoreBorn to a lower class family, Ivor Beckett’s hopes of becoming a knight were a pipe dream at best. That was, until he met Cyprian Geoffrey, another young boy his age, through a string of family friends. Immediately, Ivor and Cyprian became fast friends. The two were nearly inseparable, and when Cyprian, being from a wealthier family, expressed interest in becoming a knight, Ivor was quick to jump on the opportunity with him. The two went through training together, sparring every day in their spare time, making their own swords and practice dummies, until they felt confident enough in their skills, and became pages in King Ead II’s army, Ivor succeeding in being appointed through the glowing recommendation of Cyprian. They began to slowly rise through the ranks as their training progressed, but Ivor noticed that Cyprian seemed to be progressing much faster than him. Ivor didn’t think much of it, Cyprian was still the same person he had always known, even as they grew into young men. Ivor felt the first pang when Cyprian was knighted, and he was not. It hurt, but he rationalized it. Cyprian was a fantastic soldier, and a wonderful man. He was extremely happy for him. Cyprian insisted to the king that Ivor be his squire, and he agreed. But Cyprian began to change. After they had come back from their latest campaign, Ivor noticed Cyprian seemed more twitchy, on edge. There was a look in his eye that Ivor didn’t recognize. This came to a head when Cyprian requested to return to the forest they had made camp in, and Ivor practically begged him not to go, he was concerned for his friends’ health, that he had a terrible feeling about this. Cyprian insisted, though, and set out on his first journey outside the kingdom that Ivor was not with him. Upon Cyprian’s return, he came clutching a sword with a blade as black as night. And Ivor hardly recognized the man anymore. His eyes were sunken, dark, his hair hanging about his face in wiry strands. Ivor pleaded with him to return the blade, but Cyprian snapped at him, nearly lashing out physically. He didn’t see Cyprian much anymore, and was soon approached by one of the king’s attendants to come immediately. What Ivor saw horrified him. Cyprian was on his knees, and King Ead II’s other royal guards stood around him, stripping him of his coat of arms and any signifiers on his armor as he screamed in protest. King Ead II declared Cyprian banished from the kingdom, branding him a heretic. Ivor was reassigned, though he felt unfulfilled in his new position, and couldn’t help but feel a paranoia clawing at him as Cyprian’s last words hung over him. That they all would pay. And this rang true. Cyprian returned one day, clad in dark armor, his face obscured, but Ivor recognized his voice. He stormed the castle, a one man army, and Ivor was there to fend him off. Cyprian was unsuccessful, but was not killed, and fled the city. Once the dust had settled, Ivor earned the king’s favor, and was knighted. But it was not a momentous occasion for him. Ivor’s first task was to hunt down and kill Cyprian, as King Ead II believed that only Ivor would be able to defeat him. They crossed swords a few times after, each time getting harder and harder for Ivor to keep up, despite his diligence. During what would become their final battle, Ivor knew he was going to lose. Cyprian had broken his shield and pierced his armor, and Ivor had resigned himself to his death. Cyprian howled in victory, and when their blades locked one last time, Ivor’s sword was shattered. Ivor closed his eyes just as a black fog began to roll in around them. Ivor's PerksThese are Perks which start off only appearing in Ivor's Bloodweb .
