Greatest Strength

She's very good at writing that she would be an excellent author, but she prefers to do editing so she can show other tengu how to write better. She feels if she is good at something it's fair to teach others too.

Greatest Weakness

Her eyesight is terrible when something is far away, so she's actually pretty bad at danmaku battles herself, plus it can be blinding. This would make her a stage 3 boss at most.

Writing

Her diction and ideas are wildly good, it's just that she finds publishing her own works a hassle.

Koto playing

An instrument she's played since she was little. It came to her naturally then but she lost interest in it when she got into books, but retains the muscle memory of a couple songs. When she hears it she wants to buy a koto again.

Othello

Most games are evenly matched and luck dependant. She sees othello as more of a pasttime than something to be serious about.

Positive Traits

Marmoris is smarter than she seems as she spends a lotttt of time reading on her own, whether its books or the articles she edits. With this she's up to date on most happenings and well versed in history. News articles also include columns for advice and sayings that she'll relay to others unconsciously. Usually its helpful, but sometimes her answers might be wrong.

Neutral Traits

She's a natural chatterbox when given the chance, even though she prefers to be alone when diligently working. As a tengu, her manner of speech may come off as vain and bragging, but she just talks about herself often because she doesn't like to bring up the personal lives of those around her. She's got good stories about her long life too so it can be interesting.

Negative Traits

Acting like a cat with "multiple lives", she has a lack of regard for her wellbeing because she has a long life to correct any mistakes whenever she wants. She may go a couple days forgetting to brush her hair or groom her wings, or have a messy room until her superiors do inspections. She also needs glasses pretty badly, most objects about 15ft+ being blurry, but she keeps forgetting.

Others' Perception

Loved Ones

She's seen as a workaholic but a fun person to have around when she's not busy, whether it's just to chat or become rowdy together.

Strangers

Humans of course are intimidated by her, while other youkai think she's a troublesome bother just by being a tengu.

Enemies

She can be interpreted as blunt and bragging of herself, and a pain if she starts to drop feathers around.

During her youth, Marmoris was raised alongside other tengu in the youkai mountain, with a support system set for life. She grew up with all her basic needs met, somewhere along the middle of the tengu hierachy, overall harbouring a sense of importance compared to humans and lesser youkais. While she's always been very confident and proud, her life felt a little limited.

It felt like she had a map placed before her all her life, one where she was instructed to travel within its confines to the same end goal as other tengu, being useful in their prosperous society. She didn't strive to become something as imapctful as a Great Tengu, frankly unsure of what role suited her, spending many years figuring out and settling at what she was good at. In time, she learned that editing was her strong suit, so she teamed with a handful of newspapers to edit their journalists' work. She was very good at writing herself, the ability showing in her recommendations to others, but a journalist's life didn't fit her; she would have to search for material herself, and she didn't want to run into the shrine maiden amidst any intriguing incidents.

As classy as the tengus claimed to be, at home they were rowdy when they became comfortable. Marmoris was the same, fond of drinking parties and spectating danmaku battles every once in a while, but she hated noise when she needed to work. Due to that, she began looking outside of Youkai mountain for a comfortable working space. The mountain itself had a handful of rivers and serene sceneries, yet lost humans would wander occasionally or bugs would pester. Maybe she needed to look elsewhere for a tranquil spot.

During her search spanning over a year, Marmoris had been to most of Gensokyo's landscape. Running into enough hurdles eventually that interupted her work, at the advice of an oni above ground, she was referred to Former Hell below Gensokyo. With nothing to lose, curious, that was her next and final destination in her journey.

The oni admitted that the underground was known to be loud and chaotic, but if the tengu could treat it as white noise, it would make her feel at home. Surely enough, celebrations were held often no matter if the bitter winter cold persisted sometimes, or if hot spring steam warmed up the atmosphere. It was at least predictable enough to prepare for compared to Gensokyo's surface weather. Temporarily settling into an Inn to begin editing a heap of articles, Marmoris was able to get a lot of work done with the background noise of cheers and musical performances. When a certain Enenra's turn to be on stage came, it attracted Marmoris enough to move from her balcony down to the crowd below. Her voice was heavenly to her, smooth as the silk she wore, and as enchanting as the smoke she decorated the stage with.

It came to Marmoris that, although she started off searching for a lack of noise, she'd found a sound she wanted to hear. She never thought of herself as someone who'd fall in love at first sight, or to be enamoured at all, but all of a sudden Kemu was her type entirely. As if to confirm that it was worth it, she asked Kemu after her performance to show her around Former Hell, not yet knowing the layout. Agreeing, the Enenra gave her a tour but caught on to the tengu's preference of somewhere quieter than the crowds they started at. Curious, she asked what that was about, receiving a straightforward reply of "I just wanted to hear your voice." While it confused her, she found Marmoris to be an interesting character since their meeting. The pair spent the rest of the day together, becoming close enough as friends rather quickly, Marmoris subsequently checking out of her inn to continue her stay through Kemu's house. Even that was a spectacle, neat and filled wall to wall with paintings she had been gathering over the years. When asked if she'd ever been above, Kemu's lack of knowledge of the surface prompted Marmoris to invite her, wanting to show her more than the glimpses her painting collection displayed. Eventually meeting back and forth on the surface and underground, their friendship was short lived as they started dating and shared most of their time together.

Marmoris still wakes each day to get something done and be productive, receiving countless awards over the years for her contributions in the journalism industry, known to create incredible passages out of small works. While she doesn't think about it, her eye sight grows blurrier with time, likely needing glasses sooner or later. Kemu often laughs at her habitual squint, saying that if she didn't smile as often as she does, her resting face would simply be a glare.

She definitely feels that she's reached the end goal of her path by being established in the tengu society, yet she feels she's also accomplished her own goals beyond the bounds of her route. To see different lands and scenes is fulfilling in one's lifetime, but so is obtaining a soulmate to those who wish to seek one. Neither thing was planned or expected she thinks, but Marmoris enjoys the life thats unfolded before her. When she sees Kemu it's a refreshing break from her work after all. She's always attending her singing performances when there's a gathering, but even hearing her hum as they idle around is blissful.

Marmoris appreciates that Kemu celebrates her literary accomplishments with her, likewise content with what she achieves on her own whether its singing or something else. Early on, she'd notice that Kemu was insecure about touching things or unconsciously emitting smoke. Marmoris' fingertips and wings were already dark so she assured Kemu she could touch either, making the effort herself to hold Kemu's hand whenever she could. That gesture alone was considered the sweetest thing Marmoris had done, not that she's aware of it. Perhaps sharing so many years together has led Marmoris to personally think their relationship is mainly playful and relaxed like that of a happily married couple, but there's always a moment or two that they get butterflies.
