Ylva is actually a very caring, attentive, and observant person; Its just not always obvious because she can be very forceful and intimidating.
Neutral Good
As a young girl I imagine she was actually a rather soft, gentle, pretty little thing, traits (aside from her physical beauty) that have now been-- for the most part-- pushed aside after being taken advantage of by her tribes Chieftain. An act of which she wouldn't let him get away with, the moment she was of age, she challenged him, having become a strong, fearless young warrior, she killed him and took his place as chieftain. Now she strives to be a (relatively) good person, leading her tribe down a better path, and protecting her people.
--that's part of the reason she's very protective of Viola, an elven girl who was was enslaved by another tribe of orcs at a young age and forced to preform for them in many unspeakable ways. when she escaped, Ylva found her and took her in, promising to protect her. (And will beak anyone who touches a hair on her pretty little head.)
Ylva's mother is a female orc who assaulted and killed her father.
