Merlin

Hoping to draw a fullbody version of her sometime but for now she'll be in wip folder. If you just gonna draw upper body you may (might also try to give her a bit more of an outfit - not sure yet)

Short info/ notes
- Merlin is a mermaid who also takes human form sometimes.
- She's essentially ancient (been there since people remember but nobody rly knows what her deal is) 

- She never really does anything too significant but she seems to know basically everything you ask her (tho she will withhold certain information)

- One thing she's known for tho is her encouragement of individualism among merfolk. They often tend to see themselves less as their own entity but more as one with the water. She does not agree with this.
Most merfolk specifically distances themselves from her for that very reason.
To them death (dissolving into water) seems like returning to the cycle, it's not a real end to an individual. They say they feel the presence of their old friends swimming around them still.
It also doesn't help that merfolk can change their shape at will, and share memories and feelings (if they let them flow though the water) Merlin does not engage in any of this, she also advises merfolk to stop doing that and choose their main shape, hold on to their own feelings and memories etc. Many have subconsciously started keeping certain feelings to themselves and slowly find a shape they are most comfortable with not changing as often anymore.

Merlin doesn't necessarily hate their outlook on life, she simply finds it regrettable.
Within the main story she has mostly been in the position of an observer, sort of a sage to the merfolk, kind of reclusive, she leaves them alone, they leave her alone, unless they need her wisdom.

- she does change form occasionally to get some company. Often times she goes on land since she has a much easier time interacting with people who share her views.

- At some point, she changed shape and had a child with a merman named Llyr. That child is Seynon (on that note, the way merfolk has children is quite different from other species, won't go into detail here)
Neither Llyr nor Seynon know it was her - tho they may find out at some point.
This was definitely not an action coming from love or pure enjoyment, she definitely has something planned, who knows what it is. She had her fake identity die and moved back to her usual position of the sage, watching how things developed from there.
