Personality

A very proud and secretive cat, Apollo will try to make himself as big as possible but in reality he is the most scared of them all. Apollo has a horrible self image and will often compare himself to others. This prevents him from truly ever embracing who he really is. His over confident demeanor often gives other cats the impression that he is arrogant and annoying. To be fair Apollo can be very annoying at times. Do not tell this cat a secret unless you want every feline under the sun to hear about it. Apart from his flaws he is loyal to his friends and handler. Apollo has an open and accepting mind. He’s adaptable and able to change on a dime depending on the situation he finds himself in. Apollo always makes sure that all his tasks are done before going on a relaxing flight. You can always count on him for anything, except for keeping a secret. He enjoys laying next to his friends in comfortable silence. As much as he enjoys his friends inside of the lab, Apollo dearly misses his family. He does not like being reminded of his parents and his siblings.

Profile

Kithood

Apollo was born in the Shopping Districts to Avian and Arava. During his kithood, both his parents were in and out of their den. They often went dumpster diving for food and resources. His only memories from this time were his mother’s worm body pressed against his.

Juvenile

During this stage of his life Apollo, Juniper and their father, Avian, would spend their days running through the different streets. They would steal food from small stores and cause chaos amongst the humans. Arava and Dune would often be the one to guard the den and gather herbs for medication. Apollo, Avian, and Dune became known amongst the small food stores and were considered pests. Apollo enjoyed his simple life with his family. As they ran around the shopping districts, they became more known for their theft. The humans started setting traps behind their buildings. During one of their robberies, Apollo got caught in one of the small traps. Big sister and father tried to rescue him, but to no avail. The humans found Apollo in the trap and eventually gave him to the scientist in the labs. His first year or so in the labs was confusing. The young cat remembers being fed daily and food being plentiful. He was weary of the humans at first, but eventually came to the realization that they meant no harm.

Adulthood

After his mutations took hold, he adjusted to his new life rather well. Apollo liked being fed everyday instead of having to go out and hunt for it himself. As Apollo got more used to his wings and the different traits that come from being half vulture, his days quickly became routine. Wake up, eat, chat with another cat, play with his caregiver, and train. Once he mastered his ability to fly and got used to his keen sense of smell, his caregiver gave him the opportunity to visit the domes. Once this freedom opened up to him his first thought was to swiftly return to his family, but he hesitated. Apollo became keenly aware of the changes to his body and how off putting they can be towards other cats. As he flies around the domes, usually staying close to the labs and only really straying far when he is with other cats from the labs. Outside of the labs Apollo becomes self conscious about his mutations. He does not hate them. He is very appreciative towards them, but he still can’t help but to compare his mutations to the other cats. He struggles with the fact that he does not have the beautiful fathers of some of the avian felines. Apollo’s main insecurities come from his head and the bird he was mutated with. Turkey vultures are often associated with bad luck and not to mention, a cat with a bald head is not something people want to be around. His insecurities keep him from visiting his family and letting them know he is ok. Every once in a while he will visit the Shopping Districts to watch his family above, but very rarely stays long. Just long enough to see if they are alive or not.
