Born on September 8th 1904, in the city of Birmingham, England, Chester Woods' life took an unexpected turn in 1926. Fleeing the shadow of a troubled past, he left his homeland for a new beginning in St. Louis. The abrupt closure of the hotel where Chester worked, being in police investigation, leading him to grab what money he could and hastily depart to evade potential arrest. This unexpected twist led him across the Atlantic, leaving behind the grey clouds of England in pursuit of a fresh start in the states.
Despite his confrontational demeanour at first, Chester is a laid-back and lazy person at heart. Life's trials have changed him into someone who faces adversity with a casual attitude, preferring simpler, less challenging paths. Chester's love of bottles, particularly cider, is a feature of his personality. Chester's disheveled appearance also masks a hidden love for the piano, which he cherishes with a level of secrecy rarely shared with others. Sneaking away during his shift in England to mess with the keys on the hotel piano developed into a passion for the art. This hidden passion for music led him to a chance encounter with Mitzi May, who introduced him to Lackadaisy's jazz band. Chester's piano skills did not escape Mitzi's eye, and he soon found himself as an understudy for Mozzie, the band's own pianist. Chester finding solace in the rhythmic melodies of the piano, which provided a soothing getaway from his life's turbulent currents.Chester formed a very close relationship with Zib, a fellow musician and saxophone player, while playing in the Lackadaisy Band. Their connection went beyond the musical notes, forming a link that they are unlikely to disclose unless they're extremely drunk, zib aiding chester from couch surfing to staying at zibs own appartment as he gets back on his feet.
Chester being the youngest of three siblings, faced family challenges due to his parents' more 'relaxed' parenting skills, from a young age Chester having to learn to look out for himself mostly. After dissapearing to St.louis, there were very mixed reactions from his family, some starting to try and find Chester for different reasons.
