Species Human....?

RoleBored Entity

Notes

  • 5'11
  • Lean, but muscled. He isn't a pushover. Looks tall and lankey, though.
  • He may look human...but something boils under the surface. An ancient, very apathetic entity that hungers for entertainment
Personality

✔/ Intelligent - Resourceful- Determined - Morally Neutral - Creative - Passionate

X/ Secretive - Short tempered - Competetive - Smartass - Easily bored - Stubborn - Eccentric

Helios is....bored. Being immortal has its perks sure, but also its annoyances.. like seeing everything and watching time float by with very little meaning. He spends his days in constant search of something- anything to find amusement in a life he finds pointless. Sure- he doesn't want to die, but what's the point of living if he hides away in the black void eternally never being a part of anything. So he decided to be a human- surely they have to have something to interest him. Maybe. Or not.

He is incredibly brilliant, able to put his ancient mind to the test to solve almost anything in his way. He actively seeks problems to solve- ancient artifacts, demon and spirit boxes, puzzles and inquiries- if there's a mystery to be had, he'll be there to unravel it. He generally tends to be very apathetic and quiet, preferring to observe- but when he has a real problem to solve he lights up into a passionate barrage of debate and equations and probabilities. The more difficult the problem- the better.

He can genuinely be pretty fun and charming as long as he's not bored. Watching him solve a problem with such energy and genuine love of mystery is encouraging to those around him. Once he sets his eyes on something- he won't stop until it's resolved. He gets pretty grouchy and insufferable when he's not kept busy. Might melt into the floor or destroy a city or two if he's miserable enough.

He isn't evil- but naturally as an immortal being he doesn't really have a 'standard' view of morality in the same manner as humans and their laws might dictate. Things like possessions and mortal life itself don't really tend to have a lot of meaning to him. Not out of cruelty or lack of desire to understand- moreso simply lack of experience or true connection to initiate that kind of genuine development. He doesn't tend to hurt people- he finds that pointless, but if someone's in his way and inconveniences him or threatens his comfort he may lash out or be tempted to do 'evil' things. Most of the time he is hindered by human laws- largely because having to deal with police bothering him would be way more inconvenient than whatever annoying thing the mortal is doing.  He finds mortal bickering and priorities odd and annoying at best and even the notion of discussing obtuse mortal politics will probably make him leave the room.

He has a silver tongue and isn't afraid to snark anyone who annoys him. He's excellent at picking out insecurities and using it to tear people apart with his words. He's well spoken and calculated and skilled in manipulating others to get his way. He genuinely would rather do things himself than trust someone else-but he is capable of pulling strings if it means getting what he wants. He's eccentric and has some odd mannerisms- including fiddling with his rubix cube, walking backwards, sitting in positions that others would see as uncomfortable/ect

He is ruthless and competitive- especially towards those in his way or he sees as actively impeding him from solving a problem. He also tends to like making deals and competitions....some say he's like a demon in that way. But whatever he truly is... is a mystery.

Trivia

  • He has a weirdly sinister smile...even if he's perfectly and genuinely not up to anything. He just has that constant "up to something" expression when he's thinking about something.
  • Those who are magically inclined can sense a constant aura of darkness/void magic around him. Though normal mortals will notice nothing.
  • He loves candy and human food. It's what he sees as the highlight of their inventions
  • He nicknamed his cube Cubus
  • He is 'trapped' in a shadow curse, and bound to Vadim. Trapped being a very loose term- Helios is the one who made the curse and could easily break it, however it means he's always close to his partner and allows him to hide within Vadim's shadow- making himself invisible by passing to the alternate dimension in darkness. He does have the annoying predicament of vanishing and going transparent when light hits him though, so he typically sticks to shadowy areas and the dark or going out at night. This does allow him to hide from the demon hunters as well as humans as necessary and means that if something were to happen to his partner- he'd die too. Helios is...okay with this. Because he doesn't really want to go on without him again anyways. He tried to move on once and couldn't.
  • He's basically a lovesick puppy around his partner. He is probably a bit too reliant on him but luckily Vadim doesn't take advantage of that.
  • He loves movies- says that the more nonsensical the better. Reality is predictable and easy to understand...movie logic doesn't equate to reality- it's more fun if he doesn't know what's going to happen.
History

Helios was a giant elderich space cube floating in the vastness of the void, oblivious to the world and content to dwell in the eternal rotting nothingness of darkness and abyss. Until...a stray magic bolt hit him. Right in his corner- how rude. Naturally, a void beast that knew nothing but the vermin populating the void's stars and emptiness was confused and angered by the arcane magic that dared to sully its presence. So it decided to investigate. Perhaps destroy the source of such an annoying interruption to its eternal floating-in-space. However, upon discovering the planet of Isethef it was...mostly just confused. What were these odd flesh things doing? Why was it so bright and colorful? Why were they fighting and harming one another? It didn't really make sense to the entity that knew nothing about life. So after observing from afar for a time,. Helios decided to investigate- and try and track down who the blazes had launched a magical missile at his body all the way in space-

He took the form of a human, posing as a knight in the Great war. it was pure accident that he stumbled on the sorcerer who had accidently shot him. At first agitated- Helios followed him with intent on figuring out why in the world he'd done that and how he could be punished. Just to come to realize it was only happenstance and a stray blast of magic trying to fend off a demon attack and save many people. While Helios was...rather unsympathetic- humans meant nothing to him anyway, he was willing to consider it an accident in exchange for knowledge. So the sorcerer tolerated the presence of the nosy and abraisive void beast. Knowing full well he was a severe and unstable danger to existance and his home planet. Naturally, the sorcerer wanted to keep an eye on him so he tried to appease the odd space cube.

Helios was...struggling to learn human society. Still is at times. But naturally when he and the sorcerer accidently fell in love he decided to stay among them instead of fleeing back to the stars. He helped him in the war- fending off demons best he could and protecting his would-be partner from wartime while he tried not to expose himself for what he truly was. He posed as a knight in the countries army but stayed close to his partner at all times. Until the fateful evening where he was forced to go on a mission to protect a local city- to come back and find that his partner had died under suspicious and mysterious circumstances. Helios was heartbroken,  fleeing back to his origins. Hiding in the void- far from the planet that had taught him love and taught him loss- emotions he wrestled with for centuries. Eventually though...he grew bored, lonely- he never forgot that planet and all that resided on it and what all it meant- not just to him but to his beloved.

He returned, spending a few years mindlessly wandering until an odd unknown book and magic shop caught his interest... he figured it was just the surge of magic that caught his attention. He did not so much anticipate the shop owner panicking at his void essence and trapping him with a spell that Helios was all too familiar with- since he himself had been the one to create it. It would trap him as part of Vadim's shadow- binding the two together. Confused by the interaction..he hung around to see what exactly this magic shop owner was up to. While it started with curiosity...the reason he'd been drawn to this place was soon made clear- when his former beloved's magic decided to reappear from this store owner and express that he had hidden part of his soul in a new body in case of demons managing to kill him. So he'd never truly died at all- and had been waiting impatiently for Helios' return. While his new body did have some personality of its own- he didn't want to forget his partner, so he'd withheld part of his old self that would eventually merge with his other soul fragment, turning them back into one person.

Helios was, of course- elated to have his partner back. Much had changed and many years had passed..but they could finally enjoy life together. Not under wartime or constant threat of death....only the annoying nagging of the demon hunter's guild trying to "Slay" the void beast for the perfect demon-hunting weapon. How irritating. Anyways, Helios became very attached to his reborn partner, just as he had been before. Though, now he won't let him out of his sight for long.
