Backstory
Tacitus was born to an unlikely couple; an elven hunter by the name of Gawain, and a shy merchant known as Aderyn. The two of them remained a long distance couple for some years before deciding to marry, but it wasn't until Addie became pregnant that Gawain decided to say goodbye to his clanmates for good, figuring it to be the best choice for his wife and child. Carrying a child had proven difficult on Aderyn, and complications continued once the baby was born, resulting in a nasty infection that he was not thought to live through in his infancy. Miraculously he did survive, though his vocal cords were damaged beyond repair, resulting in life-long mutism. Eventually the boy was given the name "Tacitus." Life was not been easy for the family, who struggled to make ends meet, and all of their time and money was dedicated to making sure that Tacitus was taught to read and write, a skill not possessed by many in their village. Frequently frustrated and teased, Tacitus grew up an outcast among his peers and neighbors..
Current
Sent on what he thought would be another mundane delivery job, Tacitus was ambushed on his way to drop off a parcel. Though he managed to escape his assaulter, hours of daylight had been lost in the process, and at the insistance of the very patrons he had delivered to, Tacitus decided to stay the night. Having an opportunity to get to know the traveling couple, Robin and Elliot, Tacitus grew to enjoy their company, and upon learning that his home was located in the same direction as they were headed, they agreed to escourt him back to his parents. In the week spent together, Tacitus (against his better judgement) had become quite enamored with the two, and in the end he was asked to come with them, and offered a house and job working under Elliot.
