Beatrice Tanda was born into the Arexoth Empire, but her circumstances were not particularly to her favor as she was essentially born into slavery. Her parents, Felicity and Leonardo, served as retainers for a lower-ranking noble family before being delegated to the mines “as an example for those who wish to disobey.” Though immediately quashed, rumors had spread of a potential uprising against the ruling class, and for the nobles, they would do anything to keep the status quo. It seems that with each day that passed, the idea that their paradise would be lost ever so slowly gained traction.
And they were right.
News of uprisings across the borders of the empire spread throughout the continent, but under Gonatt Inel vel Arexoth’s command, they quickly passed. It was during one of these uprisings that she lost her parents at the age of 10, and Beatrice was taken under the Church of Ameria’s wing afterwards to be trained as a priestess. Although the church provides standard equipment, she takes it upon herself to create and maintain the tools needed to perform her jobs of cleansing sins. She carries an unwieldy coffin upon her back, which contains her rifle capable of delivering healing (and lethal) rounds through the use of custom cartridges inspired by her parent’s craft and ingenuity. These cartridges are said to also provide “blessings” and “burdens” to those affected, depending on what type of magic is loaded into them. Her rifle is considered the family’s only memento as she had no other possessions while growing up. Throughout her academy days and even past graduation, Beatrice was given the nickname “Bullet Angel” for her unique way of providing support.
Beatrice can seemingly come off as someone who’s weak-willed, obedient, and apologetic due to her treatment as a slave in the past, despite her parents’ best efforts to protect her. She can also come off as a bit greedy when it comes to donating or taking pledges for the church, and even carries around a box for it. She finds enjoyment in the little things and is easily impressed. On the frontlines, she takes precedence in helping those who need it, regardless of who they are, and her role as a medic is a priority above all else. She will not do anything that would warrant the prolonged suffering of another, even if it means butting heads with an ally. In her free time, especially when focusing on a task, she’s often found humming or singing to herself which has been described as eerily calming to those within earshot, a trait picked up from her mother.
