Sydney is a doll that was made on Cain's image when he was a lil younger and happy, He is one of the waker's but his former master has died.Cain claimed him after, even though he is just a waker he was program to perform basic fighting skill and ahem ahem can perform sexual acts. 
Sydney from the start had a lil soul inside him a special soul when cain lover reached the castle of morpheus the god that is causing all the nightmare's around the world upon hurting the god sydney protected his master but failed he and his master did cause a lil damage which gave sydney a part of its soul. Alone with his masters corpse sydney stays by his side trying to wake him up until cain found him. 

He accompany cain till they defeated morpheus but morpheus needed a new host to seal himself again sydney was offering himself but cain command him to stay it was the 1st time sydney's felt an emotion as he slowly let go of cains hand he felt cain's soul be apart of him. as he cried and wonder alone the lonely world find humans to wake up.

He is also like the son of morpheus and cain due to both theyre soul are in him as one
He claimed the Bear as his permanent companion.
