Ryoma

Ryoma is a very cautious person. He avoids other people and often shows a very indifferent look whenever he's around them. He seems to be very cold. This is also amplified by his notoriety as a very strong fighter. When he's alone with his snakes however it becomes quite obvious, how much of this is actually just his discomfort around people. When he's alone he'll open up, smile, laugh and cry, let out his emotions. He's actually a light hearted person, wanting only the best for the ones dear to him.

Ryoma was born in a normal family, however he was very quiet. And he didn't talk much. He apologized easily as though he was afraid of the people around him. At one point he started going to the forest a lot. It was known to be dangerous. Lots of demons are known to appear there and on top of that it's a forest inhabited by dangerous animals.
Ryoma - unaware of it - happily walked through the forest, happily because he felt free, once he was alone and away from other people. There were no expectations and no pressure. However, as a giant white snake showed up in front of him he knew, it wouldn't be as easy. He ran away. He knew this snake saw him as prey. Strangely enough, he didn't feel afraid tho.
And thus he started researching snakes in the library. He found out flutes were used to control them, so he got himself a flute. He went back to the forest and searched for the snake. Once he found it, he started playing.... well it didn't sound good, the snake didn't seem very happy either, however there was a change. Contrary to eating him, it now seemed, the snake was annoyed at him being such a bad flute player.
He spent his time practicing in front of the snake and he noticed how his playing started sounding better day by day. Well, he noticed that the snake liked it more and more, he himself is actually kind of tone deaf. He noticed how after certain combinations the snake was inclined to do specific movements. It would move according to his play. Fascinated, he continued spending his days in the forest. Somehow he started to figure out what the snake wanted by looking at its face. Somehow he started being able to communicate with her. He named her Seraph and they are best friends to this day.

Originally Ryoma planned to become an entertainer. He thought his talent to control snakes would be easily usable to entertain a crowd. Due to his stage fright however, he was barely abel to play. When he got a bit better, people still weren't watching, as he was just... boring. His problem was: He knew how to deal with snakes but not how to deal with his fellow Manisa (his species, pretty much just kemonomimis).
Considering all that, he decided for a change in career. He'd try bounty hunting - fighting wanted demons, as well as criminals. His plan: Letting Seraph do the job and helping her out with the flute so she could evade dangerous attacks. Soon he noticed, that wasn't enough. He got in dangerous situations himself quite often and Seraph was barely able to protect him. This time he wasn't ready to give up this career however. He decided to learn swordsmanship. At first he was incredibly bad at it and he got quite a few scars from fights, however improved very fast. Currently he's known as one of the best swordsmen there are.
He's living in a small cabin outside of town. People avoid him and his home, as they heard there are lots of dangerous animals. In fact he did pick up quite a few snakes and some other animals as well. Within his other snakes there's 4 notable ones, Basilisk, a small poisonous snake, who won't listen to him so he has to use the flute a lot to calm him - Ruby, a small red snake with no special abilities, but one Ryoma is very fond of. He spoils Ruby quite a bit. And Smeja, a gigantic snake even bigger than Seraph, Ryoma cannot even control her with the flute. Therefore she barely gets out of the Terrarium as it is dangerous for Ryoma and his other animals.

One day Ruby went through a transformation and turned into a Lurch. (more about that on Ruby's profile) At first Ryoma was suspicious as Ruby now looked very humanoid and Ryoma still doesn't like dealing with them. However, he soon realized that this was still Ruby, despite his appearance. With his new body he could learn how to speak and Ryoma taught him swordsmanship as well. Ruby is very loyal and kind of shy, he wouldn't talk to anyone but Ryoma and the other snakes. And he would never go against Ryoma's will.

Generally people don't really know what to think of him, when they see Ryoma. He barely talks, he seems scary to them. So they avoid him. They see him talking to Seraph, who is always by his side. And they are weirded out and don't want anything to do with him. The rare person who does approach him, can't really talk well to him, as he gives very short, evasive answers, trying to get away from the conversation as fast as possible.
Thus he became known as the notorious scary snake bending swordsman, people should avoid if they value their life. Somehow.
