Merry is a shy and delicate creature who tends to talk to himself a lot, more than he talks to others. While he's a skilled magic practitioner, he doesn't like to use his spells offensively and focuses more on healing and defense. When it's absolutely necessary, however, he will not hesitate to fire sharp icicles at his enemies.
