Akemi

Unlike most other kitsune of lore, Akemi was born as a half-fox with magical ability. Since birth, her ears and tail have always been visible, showing her heritage of a fox-woman and mortal male. For the most part, Akemi inherited her mother’s fox nature, with only her father’s humanoid appearance tinted with fox extremities. When Akemi was 5 years old, her mother’s true identity was found out, and she had to leave the world of the mortals, and took her daughter with her. Her mother knew the world of men wouldn’t have a kind heart to a half breed.

At 100 years old, Akemi became a full kitsune and purged her humanity, fully accepting her fox nature. With it she gained the ability to become full fox, be half as she had been since birth, or hide all her fox traits from prying eyes… but it didn’t stop there. She could take on the appearance of others almost flawlessly, along with the ability to summon her very own kitsunebi. Needless to say, this lead to a lot of mischief and eventually Akemi leaving home. Her sense of adventure overpowering her desire to stay home and settle down. Now, she leads a nomadic lifestyle, traveling all across the country.

With every temple she visits, she makes sure to pay proper respect to the Gods… before she plays any innocent, well-meaning pranks on the priests and mikos. When she parts, she always leaves behind a gift for them to find.

At the age of 118, Akemi noticed yet another power starting to develop. She could hear people's thoughts, which was the first step in acquiring the power of being able to do a fox-possession. Even now, she has still to get used to this new trait, often unsure when someone is talking… or she simply hears their thoughts. Along with this birth of a fledgling new power, she gained the ability to be able to take extended leaps, able to travel small distances faster.
