A tengu, just shy of five feet tall.
She's not tall but has a strong presence nonetheless; her general disposition is confident to the point of being cocky, strutting around on her bird legs like she owns the place regardless of what place she is in. Her eyes are not immediately visible from a distance or in muted light, a dark brown easily lost against the black. There is no visible sclera and she moves her head in an animated manner to look around; it's not hard to discern where her attention is, unless she makes a conscious effort to hide it. Often seen smirking, she mostly seems unmotivated to hide her spirited body language however.
Her clothes, a layered ensemble of purples and blues and teal, contrast with her black feathers. A long tail tapers off into a blunted triangular shape, unlike that of a crow. It shines with iridescent blues and greens when the light catches it just so. Someone with an eye for birds might recognize it as a magpie tail, though the white portions of her plumage are hidden beneath her clothing.
Colourful scarves drape around her hips, along with the fur of a small white fox, to pad out her hips and give her a more feminine appearance. Otherwise she appears slender, perhaps bordering on scrawny. (She would prefer “delicate”.) Her clothing is well made and fits comfortably, the scarves embroidered sumptuously with highlighted details in gold thread. They likely cost a pretty penny to obtain and have since been well worn, though carefully maintained.
A close look would reveal her shirt largely backless, but a fur-trimmed mantle covers her shoulders and helps keep her warm as well as modest. Those lucky enough to see her unfurl her formerly non-existent wings would notice this arrangement of her clothing was intended for thus, so as not to restrict her (and her wings') movement.
When in use, she has an impressive wingspan of predominantly black feathers, where her flight feathers share the same iridescence of her tail and a black outline frames the white markings along their extremities.
In conjunction with the scarves and fur, a multitude of belts wrap around the tengu's hips, providing some place to keep a myriad of items; a plain sickle one might use to harvest plants, a sheathed dagger, a watertight scroll case and number of pouches and such that seem to hold small items, components and flasks. If one of them is a money pouch, it is not immediately visible.
What is visible is the plain looking haversack slung over one shoulder; it is made of supple brown leather and has a few different compartments.
Aside from the bare essentials, a number of trinkets have found their way into her garb; a pair of silver hairclips used as brooches, a silver ring with small red stones, some bangles and beaded bracelets. Not all of them look valuable, but they compliment her attire nonetheless.
Every part of her looks preened and every item in her wardrobe carefully curated, she obviously cares about her appearance though her behavior suggests she doesn't actually care about -other- people's opinions about her as much.
She is loud and often abrasive, that much is clear, though those who get to know her beyond first impressions will find she is not wholly without charm; she is smart and typically ready to help people. Her exaggerated movements have an unpretentious grace. She has a ready wit and is quick to laugh. People she grows fond of will find her protective to the point of viciousness.
Indeed she seems to be able to flip between jovial and malicious and back in the blink of an eye, likely hiding an underlying ruthlessness.
