Orias is the result of a betrayal layered with betrayal and his story is a tapestry of the emotions he is too afraid to reclaim. Many call him friend but none would call him known.
Character
Orias has many smiles, most genuine, even more masks. While his smiles are poor indicators of his true mood, if he is not smiling, something is very wrong.
⬥ Orias keeps no secrets, and will share when asked but also does not volunteer any parts of himself.

⬥ Very flirtatious, though tempered to one person lately.
⬥ People assume he is dangerous because of his size, and he is, though he rarely has cause to use it anymore.
⬥ He believes strongly in independence and freewill, and leaves room for others make their own mistakes.

⬥ Many of his decisions are selfishly made as he is learning whether he would still like to care for others.
⬥ His dragon voice unravels the effects of the others of his kind. He can nullify and undo their charms.

Design Notes
⬥ Known as the Ember Dragon, Orias armor is made from obsidian, gold, and ruby.
⬥ His eyes are a light teal, the color of years-worn seaglass.
⬥ A scar runs from his hairline across his right eye and down through his lip. This is a continuation of the wound that took his horn.
⬥ His hair is long and often held in a queue in front of him.
⬥ The black patterned tattoo is from his pirate days and would not be visible if you draw him with armor.

Story
Past
Orias the would-be Kingslayer.
Orias was the Gatekeeper and guardian of the kingdom. When Berast would seek to subdue the dragons, take away more of what made them unique and hide them from the world, Orias moved to overthrow his Regent. He struck when he felt that he had enough and that people would stand behind in this attempt. Unbenownst to him, his lover Kasparian used her voice to stop anyone from standing at his side. What would have been a heroic and selfless act was now a great failure. Orias left the battle bloodied and alone. Missing his horn, and his home. His pride was not so large that he felt he was leaving not out of cowardice, but self-preservation. No one had stood with him, so he would no longer stand for them.
He eventually healed (with help) and found his way onto the ship and in the care of the Dreamy Aryvel. They became fast friends as Orias worked side by side with Revel to help stop slave trades and free others from ruinous kingdoms, something he still felt he failed his people in.
Present
Orias has been a minor player in many stories since failing to accomplish his own novel goal. While willing to lend a helping hand, he is feckless and makes no promises. A ship on the horizon cannot be counted to have him on it, as he picks a new path on impulse (or perhaps when he feels the stirrings of something he fears).
He has recently come to head with some uncomfortable truths and is on his way to confront them for the first time, rather than run the other direction. Perhaps he has found there are some things that are worth more than freedom, or that he did not truly understand that word.

Orias met Bell quickly after his great failure and was in no mood to make friends. As he healed they grew to be friends, not knowing how entwined their story would become. Though he has left time and time again, there will be no real parting for them.
Kasparian

Ex-lover who used her voice to turn the dragons against him during is coup and lead to his failure and near death. She regrets it deeply but there is no going back from that.
Revel

Captian of The Redeemer and collector of lost creatures, Revel is a hard outside with a gooey center and a long-time companion of Orias.
