 — Backstory —
Used to be the only child of a very wealthy family in Egypt, the only heir to all the family's wealth. Upon inheriting everything on his 18th birthday, as his parents wanted him to learn to take care of everything by himself as early as possible, the young man was nothing more than a greedy, spoiled brat. He gave large parties to gain popularity among the people and establish connections to other nobles who might be useful for him in the future. His whole life long he pretended to be nice and generous, but actually he only sought to take advantage of the people around him and use them to his favor. He was popular, but only to help himself.

Thus he lived his life deceiving everybody, betraying them once they were no use to him anymore.

At some point though people began to notice and started to develop deep hatred for the young man, it all ultimately ending in him being killed by a very poisonous snake that some of his servants had hidden under his bed.

But instead of dying, the young man found himself in a vast voidness, hearing a deep voice echoing all around him, speaking to him as slowly the Gods appeared around him, very enraged and displeased by his behavior while he had been alive. Thus Anubis, the God of the dead, spoke to him and banned him back to earth to atone for his sins. He told him from now on he would be the watcher over the fate of every single human and would he attempt to escape his duty, he would be punished severely by the Gods themselves and then send back to earth until he would cooperate.

Many times the young man of course tried to ignore his task and just as many times the Gods made him regret this. After a whole decade had passed without him listening to the Gods' decision, Anubis called him again and punished him with a power far worse than death itself; from then on the young man, now in the form of a white Anubis, was invisible to the human eye and couldn't be heard by them either. Many decades passed while the young man grew more and more lonely, now finally beginning to fulfill his task as the watcher over fate.

Someday Anubis showed him mercy by telling him that he could control his invisibility, but at the same time he warned him, that, as he supposed he would try to escape his duty again, he had put a hex on him; he could make himself visible to the human eye, yet whenever people would see him, they would treat him like an old friend, but upon losing sight of him, they would forget about him instantly again, as if they never met. This did not quite brighten the young man's situation, obviously, as Anubis still meant to punish him.

And thus he is wandering around, watching over the fate of every single human being, hiding the loneliness that keeps growing larger and larger in his heart.
