The younger brother. Unlike his brother, Azdric was born with no magical abilities. It was never something he minded. Not something he ever became jealous over. Until Merdic went into hiding and, by all accounts, stopped using his abilities. This angered Azdric. His brother had so many magical skills, and they were all going to waste. Worse, powers like Merdic's were becoming increasingly rare to find. Magic came to a point where it nearly ceased to exist except in forms of crude party tricks. There were so many left who could still pull rabbits out of their hats.
Azdric's idea was to host shows to display these poor forms of magic. His shows would attract numerous magicians to show off what they could while the audience got their laughs. His shows managed, as he hoped, to draw Merdic out of hiding. His brother was troubled by what he saw that passed as magic, and stormed the stage. He showed what true magic could be to an entranced audience. People began to relearn skills in magic that they had lost, but they needed guidance. They needed a teacher.
Azdric and Merdic established a school where users of magic could convene to learn, study, and live together. Merdic began using his magic again, and soon Azdric learned the reasons as to why his brother had stopped.
The magic had taken a toll on the mage. His powers were vast, but not without consequence. His mind is no longer what it once was, and Merdic has a very hard time remembering anything. He also is plagued by nightmares when he sleeps, and thus rarely sleeps at all. Finally, rune scars decorate his arms, carved into the flesh. Azdric feels guilty for luring his brother out of hiding, and takes on the role of the protective, little brother. Not always an easy task as Merdic is constantly wandering off again, and Azdric is left to manage the school.
