Noah Nowell, also known as Chaos, was born into a normal family as the younger sibling of Adam Howell. He was born weak and fragile, an albino child, and he was looked at with curiosity and disdain from even his own parents for his odd appearance. Only his brother Adam stood by him and protected him, his loyalty unwavering even when it cost him dearly. Noah loved his brother more than anything, and it hurt him deeply to make the decision to leave. Noah would've died young due to health complications if it hadn't been for the intervention of the Nightmare King Nym who made a deal with him. Take a job as a proxy in exchange for a second chance. Needless to say, Noah took it.
As Noah grew, Nym's dreamscape visits became more frequent and he learned more about what he had to do- be a body for the nightmares on earth, spread fear and doubt into the minds of people so that the nightmares could remain strong and present in their lives. Because of the destruction he knew he'd have to cause, Noah began to act out and push his family away, even going so far as to extend this treatment to his dear brother Adam- who Noah was terrified of getting involved in the mess that was now his life. Once he'd broken his family ties with erratic behavior, cruel words and finally moving out without a trace, Noah adopted the nickname Chaos and tried to abandon his past and turn himself into a new person, a person who would embrace the dark nature of his fate and who would try to enjoy their condition.
Chaos matured into a loner type with a biting sense of humor and scathing sarcasm. Just by his self-assured posture and slant grin, he gives off a dangerous energy and threatens with a glance from his piercing red eyes. When he talks he's always speaking down to others, his voice a sing-song melody that's sweet, though the words he speaks are usually biting and fierce. He's known for playing with his victims and drawing out ordeals, even if impractical, in the name of having a good time, and others are generally terrified of him, giving him a notable amount of space whenever he's around. Not everyone knows Chaos by name, but he doesn't really hide his identity or his criminal record- the thing is, those who know can't do much about it. Confronting him only ends poorly because of his affiliations with the Nightmares, and so tolerance and avoidance are your best options if you need to deal with Chaos.
Underneath this exterior, though, lies a somber, sort of resigned self. Chaos figured he'd fake it 'til he made it with his cult duties, and to a certain extent it's worked, but on another level he doesn't like his state of being. More than anything, it's the deceit that hurts him- the two-faced nature he has to treat situations with. He still acts extremely abrasive towards others who'd get to know him and keeps friendships brief, cutting things off because he knows that if they stick around him, sooner or later, he'll end up hurting them- whether because his deity commands him or because of the crossfire involved in his antics. Chaos does have a functioning sense of empathy, and he does feel bad for the people he's hurt- he just buries that feeling deep down in his heart. Sometimes it leaks out, but for the most part, it stays there, under lock and key. He still loves his brother and he'll stay up late at night pondering his misdeeds, thinking about what his brother would say, if he knew where he was today.
Chaos is a cultist who works for the deity of nightmares and illness, Nym. His duties involve spreading fear, doubt and other negative emotions through his deeds. He's been given some power by the nightmares in order to enforce these ends, from speaking into people's dreams and corrupting them into nightmares to creating visual or auditory hallucinations, Chaos has a range of magical abilities which help him complete his tasks. He also makes use of these abilities when fighting, something that makes him particularly unsavory as an opponent, especially when he already fights dirty. He has hurt people and taken lives before, and odds are he will have to again. Being affiliated with the nightmares has somewhat corrupted Noah himself, and his first instincts are usually leaning more towards being brutal than being kind.
Overall, Chaos is a snide, cocky, threatening guy who prefers to be left alone. Wherever he goes, trouble is sure to follow.
