Extra items: Shammy, Wrench, belt for his tools, silver cross necklace from his parents, cigarettes, uniform, and one clean suit he spares from grease and oil for church.
Personality:
Diedrick is quiet, unless you can get him talking about mechanical engineering. When he finds someone he considers a peer in his field, he could talk for hours. However, he usually avoids contact with people, choosing to spend time alone tinkering with various machinery. He's polite, but a keen eye can see it's forced and that he's rather uncomfortable around people. At his best he's focused and driven, at his worst he's introverted and distant. He has generalized anxiety and acute depression, both he hides the best he can. He doesn't like to talk about it, afraid people will just pity him. Within the household Diedrick grew up speaking Italian and his English is poor, providing another barrier between him and socializing with people.
Backstory:
Diedrick was born Antony Giuliano in Castelia City. He is one of three children (two sisters ages 18 and 28. When his mother, Maria, wasn't homeschooling him and his siblings, she was tending to injured Pokemon when she was needed. She has a doctorate in veterinarian medicine. His father, Vincent, is a retired police officer. Vincent stirred up a beehive of mafia activity, arresting a prominent member of the organized crime ring. Faced with the danger to his family, he chose to abandon the big city and move to the quiet seclusion of Lavender Town where he purchased a small farm. He then changed the family name from Giuliano to Lanza During this time, Diedrick was only seven-years-old, so he has little recollection of the affair, barely even remembers he had a different name previously.
Diedrick has generalized anxiety and acute depression, he often escapes his despair through drinking. He's more capable of handling social situations when impaired, but he's still really awkward, and his English is even worse. Diedrick also smokes cigarettes, using them to calm himself down, and he's rarely without a pack.
Diedrick was often asked when he is going to marry and have children. He has little interest in starting a family, or even casual dating. Feeling his father and mother might be disappointed about it, he avoids the topic the best he can. Finally, to escape Lavender Town and the pressure of people pushing into his life, Diedrick signed up for the military. When he announced to his parents that he had joined up, his father was elated, having served in the army himself. Diedrick's siblings have since moved from Lavender Town, both tired of the farm. Diedrick is happy to stay at home and help his father take care of the property, help out his mother with her work, or work on his beloved pick-up truck. With his extensive knowledge with machinery, many of the local families pay Diedrick to help when something breaks down.
During an especially chaotic battle over the beaches of Unova, Diedrick's plane was critically damaged and he was forced to jump into the battle on the beach below. Despite having a parachute, the fall still caused a compound fracture in his left leg (the Tibia). He awoke in the hospital with his leg is a cast, told he would most likely have a limp for the rest of his life. Feeling as he'd let his father down he sat miserably bed-ridden. When Vincent heard of his son's situation he quickly traveled to visit him. His father assured him that he was proud of him, and lightheartedly added that one could still fly a plane with a limp.
Now he spends his time back on the farm helping his mother out and working on his beloved truck.

Diedrick's Pokemon
Chitters | Joltik | Naive Nature | Compound-eyes | Male
Chitters is a creature that tries really hard to please Diedrick. He doesn't like
to be alone, and feels abandoned easily. Once given a trainer he will bond
quickly. In battle he's reckless and needs a trainer with a good sense of
strategy. When given to Diedrick, the man was nonplussed and didn't take to the
little bug. He was disappointed to be assigned such a tiny creature that seemed so
harmless. He is nearly inseparable from Diedrick and prefers to hide in the collar
of Diedrick's jacket. Chitters gets his name by the sound he makes when his fur is
stroked.
Machiavelli | Arcanine | Brave Nature | Intimidate | Male
This Arcanine was trained in strict obedience and excelled past his rivals. He is
a one owner pokemon, snarling and snapping at people who stray too close, but he
reserves biting for those who touch him or his trainer. Diedrick was overjoyed
when he was assigned a Growlithe. After spending a few days with the serious and
reserved animal, he decided to call him Machiavelli, or Velli for short. Velli is
quick to obey Diedrick, but despite the mans efforts, but it took the animal some
time to warm up to him. Velli's trust is difficult to earn, but once so, is
unshakable. He will follow orders without hesitation.
Acciaino | Skarmory | Rash Nature | Keen Eye | Male
Acciaino is a terrifying mix of a Velociraptor and a Medieval Knight. It's a furious blur of gray and crimson with the sounds of a thousand screeching tires. Diedrick is quite frankly terrified of this animal, despite his secret affinity for Dinosaurs.
