Eaton Bankes

Growing up in Portland, Maine, Eaton's home life wasn't the best. With a career criminal father, an absentee mother, and an infant sister, River, who needed his support. Eaton had to grow up faster than most. He cooked, he cleaned, he changed diapers. While other middleschoolers were out playing, Eaton was helping his mom nurse her hangover.

But a knock on the door one dreary afternoon was all it took to turn everything on it's head. Eaton and his sister were to be put up for involuntary adoption.

This would be the part where Eaton's saved from his neglectful home along with his sister, and they find a nice family to care for them and set them on the right path. For a moment, Eaton was sure that was what'd happen! Yet, that fantasy was immediately shattered in just a few hours. Eaton and River didn't get whisked to some big house with a nice new permanent family. They were taken and given to seperate fosterhomes. It would be the last time he connected with River for years, and what would truly send him spiraling towards depression, rage, and anxiety.

Already halfway through middleschool, Eaton found the chances of him being adopted were few and far between. What didn't help either was his tendency to act out almost as soon as he'd been brought to fostercare. He'd spend the last twelve years making his own rules and he wasn't about to listen to a pair of strangers easily.

Two weeks in, after a fist fight with one of his caregivers, Eaton would be placed in a group home. For the next six years he would move between homes until the system eventually let him go on his eighteenth birthday.

With nowhere to go, finally on his own. Eaton takes matters into his own hand. In the later parts of highschool, Eaton had actually ended up finding out where his baby sister had gone but had been too afraid to contact her family and reconnect. Now? Now it felt like he had nothing to lose.

Just a hundred dollars, and a guitar strapped to his back. That's all Eaton took with him as he road across country on a Greyhound bus to California. There was no prior warning, he knocked on River's parent's door and introduced himself right there. The greyhound was banking on their sympathy for a place to stay. Surprisingly, it worked!

His and River's first meeting after years was... Awkward at first. She truly didn't remember him. Which, he kind've knew would happen. It still hurt. Still, they could fix this...

Eaton was sweet with River, he never yelled, he never raised a hand, and he let her get away with about anything. The issue though? He was... protective. To an unhealthy extent. Her parents ground her? He gets angry and underminds them, sneaking her out somewhere. They yell at her? He gets angry!

As per usual, Eaton doesn't stay for long.

This is where Animal Academy comes in. He needs a place to stay, he needs future. Animal Academy is the potential for both. It took some kissing up and a fat loan that's mentally destroying him as we speak, but Eaton shifted from a short stay on the streets to a dorm. The issue now is keeping up with payments and actually figuring out what he wants to do in life.

Currently, Eaton has been attending AA for some years now, but struggles to keep to a specific major. It's just... How do you stick with one thing and let that be you? How do you keep from regretting it? Will you even make money from it? Is this going to make you happy? Can you even be happy? Really happy?

In 2020, Eaton switched to criminal justice. He thought that was it, that he had it all finally decided. He enjoyed the course, had a good year, made a friends. River and him were in contact again after her family finally allowed it. Then, he self-destructed. In a cacophany of bad decisions, drugs, and alcohol, Eaton flew under the radar for half of 2021 and has only resurfaced now.

He still feels like the same Eaton, but a little less stable than before...

As he seeps into the cushions of his couch, alone. Eaton wonders if he'll ever be fixed.

Relationships (Just keeping it to my own ocs till I get back into rping him again)
Wolfe Jameson; His friend, and stalker. Though he doesn't know about that part. Wolfe has been here for Eaton over the year. While they were initially acquaintances, that changed after the amount of times that man has found him strung out and about to die. It's like... fate. Sure, Wolfe is just a little too touchy, but he means well.
