Dimitri was originally built in Russia to serve anyone willing to pay the hefty fee he came with. He could kill, he could be your "companion" for the day, he'd really seen it all. But, he became one of the many omnics that retaliated against humans during The Awakening. He came to the realization that he could be more than just a robot for rent. The first chance he got, he escaped and ran off to Germany. From there, he got a flight to America in hopes that nobody from his past life would find him.

After he arrived in America, he landed a job working alongside Overwatch. As much as he would've preferred to go on missions with Blackwatch, he was too recognizable. If he got caught doing dirty work with Blackwatch, it was game over for everyone. 

During one of the few solo missions Dimitri had gone on, he ran into none other than Ramattra. Ramattra tried talking Dimitri into joining Null Sector, saying he'd make a fine addition, and could become a hero amongst all omnics. Dimitri refused, though. He didn't want fame and glory if he got it through killing humans the way Ramattra had.

After the collapse of Overwatch, much like Cassidy and Genji, Dimitri began to wander the world as a vigilante, searching for a place he felt he could call home. Who knows.....maybe he'd get to be a member of Overwatch again someday?
