Damien was raised in a small town and born into a local gang where he lived a life of criminal activity until his best friend Luke was shot and killed in a gang act. This shattered his perception that the gang was untouchable and made him question the morality of their actions for the first time. He'd never considered his membership in the gang as an option, always feeling as though it was merely his lot in life, but the shock of the loss jarred him out of this sleepy compliance. He couldn't convince his family to leave with him, so he fled in the middle of the night without telling a soul where he was headed, he was on the run awhile before settling down with his roommate Exodus, though he's still always looking over his shoulder, preoccupied with the idea that the gang is still watching him.

Damien and Exodus became roommates when Damien stumbled into the cafe Exodus worked at, dead tired and flat broke, right at closing. Exodus took him back to his house to rest, and the bum never left. Eventually Exodus convinced Damien to get a job working to pay a share of the rent, at which point he started to go by his middle name, Ezekiel, and he picked up the only job he could find and was hired through a recommendation on Exodus' part, so now he works as an elementary school instructor. He loves the kids to death but is constantly scared of messing things up, considering his own complicated history, he's not quite sure how to interact with kids but he's trying to learn. He's not always able to say the right things, but he'd fight anyone who ever hurt his precious class. He is quite capable with fighting due to his criminal background, especially due to being gifted with a large, sturdy body.

Ezekiel is paranoid, quiet and he's the type to bury his emotions deep down. He's still haunted by the passing of his friend and his own past actions, which keep him up late at night. Despite this, he's determined to change and become a better person, even if he doesn't always believe it's possible. He's lethargic, a person who spends his idle times struggling to find purpose or meaning, he often watches the news and chain smokes his afternoons away, only disturbed by Exodus, who brings him back to reality. He's disillusioned... very much so. But he sees the beauty in life and small things, like the eyes of his class brimming with joy and optimism. Little things like watching the sun rise, feeling the rain on his face, seeing birds fly-- these keep him going, if anything, to fight the restrictive negativity of the world.

He has a tough guy front, and his tall stature and broad frame often scare people away from him. His coworker Eternity, the recommendation Exodus managed to land, is probably the only person who still interacts with him like a real person. Her easygoing, happy-go-lucky, almost naive personality prevents her from sensing the same danger that others do when near Ezekiel. He's slowly warming up to her, but he's still worried about messing things up. His jokes are sometimes awkward or weird, but they mutually agree on awful puns being the peak of comedy. Slowly they've garnered a friendship! Eternity often provides him books to read in his idle time to keep him from moping too much. He tries his best to read them, but her taste is... weird to say the least, she's mostly into various fandoms that she also tries to rope Ezekiel into. He complies, if anything because he loves to see her face light up when they talk about her favorite characters.

Overall, Ezekiel is a damaged boy with a heavy heart, he's still coming to terms with his past and moving forward. With the support of his friends, he's fighting his paranoia and trying to find a place for himself in the world and a remedy to his loneliness.
