Exodus lived a boring life just barely scraping by. He failed out of high school and was disowned by his parents for this shortcoming, which led to him moving out before he was really ready to. He ended up renting a bigger home with no furniture- a suspiciously vacant lot that was rented to him for a smoking deal on the condition that he take care of the house and maintain it, because the owners were no longer physically able to deal with all the cleaning and upkeep the house needed. Exodus accepted these terms and used the bit of money he'd earned in highschool to pay off the rent for awhile as he figured out another job within walking distance. He found one at a local cafe and began piecing his life back together now that his family was no longer a part of it. Exo had been depressed for a long time now, and couldn't feel anything but emptiness and a bit of disappointment at the abandonment. He admittedly saw it coming, but felt powerless to stop it- he was sure if it wasn't his grades, it would be an innumerable amount of other things about him- his lack of a partner, his lack of a successful career, his lack of work ethic, of family involvement... there was always something wrong with Exo in his parents' eyes, so... in a way, he thought, the separation was a bit fortunate- at least now he wouldn't need to constantly worry about what his next failing would be.

His life stabilized, the cafe job waiting tables was fine, his co-workers were decent people and he liked them all well enough. The empty house required a lot of time, but Exodus had plenty of it. When he wasn't at work, he was cleaning up the house, or sometimes writing music. He'd always had a passion for writing, but at the same time was too shy to present his work to others- instead keeping it for himself in a personal portfolio. In the basement of the house is his music studio, where he keeps all his poems and songs, the works in progress taped up to the walls so he can look at them and think. He sings but only when no one else can hear him and he's sure of that. Music is the only way Exodus knows to express himself, and so it's a coping mechanism he uses when he's feeling particularly cornered or down. Later in this stable period he went back and got his G.E.D., not for his parents- but for his own personal closure. He didn't want the failure of his highschool career to loom over him the entire rest of his life, and for him the G.E.D. was a huge personal victory. He hadn't given up. It'd taken him more time than his classmates, sure, but it still meant something to him that he'd made it to the finish line.

Right when things were calming down he bumped into his future roommate Ezekiel, hopelessly drunk, stumbling into the cafe at an ungodly hour asking for coffee when Exodus was closing up shop. He obliged the stranger, and ended up taking him home so the poor guy wouldn't get hurt. He didn't know that this would be the start of Ezekiel living with him, but so it was. Ezekiel slowly opened up about what had led him to this point, and how he felt he wasn't capable of doing anything- Exodus, empathizing with this plight, let him stay for awhile rent free before finally telling Ezekiel he needed to find work and contribute to rent and food cost. The two, despite their relationship being a bit complicated at times, are good friends. Exodus keeps Ezekiel motivated to move forward, and Ezekiel gives Exodus someone to talk to, someone to bounce song lyrics off and someone to help fill the ghastly emptiness of the house. They give each other a hard time often, but the hassling comes from a place of caring.

Overall, Exodus is a simple waiter whose dream is to become a song writer. His interests include writing poetry, music (especially rap), theatre and bright colors. Exo loves neon colors, and he wears them whenever he can, because he feels that they contrast his dreary disposition well. He tries to be an optimist, and to smile more often than not, but he's still dealing with his own mental issues and figuring himself out, so some days that's more attainable than others. Exodus is happy with where he is in life, and he's thankful for Ezekiel- even if he is a bit of a pain sometimes.
