Maimii's parents died when she was 7 years old and she was caught by slave traders soon after and sold to a family to work as a maid. The rural estate she worked at was quite big and she found it fairly easy to avoid her owners and their family members most of the time. Despite being very upset by her situation she soon gained friendship and recognition of the fellow maids (both human and hybrid) because of her hard-working and friendly nature.
It didn't take long for her to start feeling at home in their presence, Maimii grew particularly attached to the head maid- Diana as she reminded her of her mother.
Maimii would follow Diana around everywhere she could just to spend more time with her.
Diana taught her about a lot of useful things (like sewing, cooking, and the basics of herbology) and Maimii would spend her free time making small plushies.
Soon a lot of small cats, sheep and other plush animals started to fill the drawer under Maimii's bed. Diana decided to sell some of them and asked Maimii to come with her to the nearby village. Maimii put on a large straw hat and a long dress to hide her ears and tail. Since then Mai visited the village regularly to sell her plushies and to help Diana carry groceries.
When Maimii was 14 Diana fell ill and died soon after. Trying not to think about her death too much Mai decided to take care of the younger maids and servants in Diana's place. She would make them plushies, read stories and so on.
One day the family she worked for was visited by a handler and Maimii was sold again, but this time she was not going to be a slave.
