Hearing people rant about things that bring them joy brings me joy so just go wild and talk about what you love! :D

For me rn it's Selkies (a creature from irish/scottish folklore who resembles a seal, but can take off their seal coat and underneath are human). A few months ago my younger brother watched it and I went "oh wow I haven't seen that movie in forever!" watched it with him for a bit and left to create a selkie oc who I love and cherish to this day. Now I'm considering making a small animated series with said oc, so I watched song of the sea while drawing them because the full movie is available on youtube for free and just. It's amazing?? It uses folklore to represent the main character's journey through grief and its amazingly beautiful, give the movie a watch if you have the time :)

also who doesn't love the idea of being a seal who leaves the ocean once every 7 days/months/years (depends on who's telling the story, though the number 7 is used faily consistently. Some stories say lonely women would cry 7 tears into the ocean, and a male selkie who they would be having an affair with would arrive.) just to dance on a beach in the moonlight?

New hyperfixation incoming!!! EPIC: The musical.

Excuse me while I rant about it for gods knows how long. Aaaand my ADHD mind switches from multiple diff things i want to say about it

I first discovered this musical through a horse in the infant animatic and an audition for hold them down. Tbh neither of them made me check out the musical lol. I didn't even know what musical they were from lol (the shock I had when i rediscovered hold them down and I was like "wait!!! That's from epic?!?!"). Then a YouTuber I watched made an OC animation with luck runs out and I speedran watching every song a week before the Circe saga came out. And my life has changed since then. The obsession has grown. It has taken over...

ANYWAYS- THE CASTING OF MASON AS TIRESIAS. OH. MY. GOSH. HIS VOICEDKSLSKKSLSKS. HES GOT THE PAMPAM ✨✨ Honestly, when I first heard his voice I immediately thought "he sounds like jay?! He would make a good Telemachus" BUT after listening to every clip of him singing no longer you I think the casting is perfect. I still stand by my opinion he'd make a good Telemachus but he really is great at tiresias. I mean even the clip of him singing in 2x speed sounds incredible and he really does have that "mysterious prophet" aura. I can't wait for the ~~emo Odysseus~~ underworld saga.

Monster out here making me question my life choices 😭 ✋ I think my screaming when the saga comes out will make my friends think I'm insane (when the circe saga dropped and I was in school when it happened... Let's just say my reaction to wouldn't you like is probably already enough to make my friends think im crazy) but it's EPIC: The underworld saga! How could I not scream?

Jay really out did himself with all of the call backs in this saga like from Full Speed Ahead, Ruthlessness and Just A Man. I'm just so excited because I thought it would be AT LEAST until Halloween this year for it's release but it's not so yaayyayayayayya I was prepared for the Circe saga to be the only 2024 saga LIKE WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS JAY?! /Pos

With it being less than a week away it's one of the only things my brain is thinking about. And because it's the only thing I'm thinking about, of course my brain is gonna over analyze. So thinking back to the previous sagas, (specifically the circe saga) there's been lyrics/SOMETHING he's hid from us. Like in wouldn't you like, Im pretty sure the lyric "You must consume and digest it then you'll manifest a beeeing of your creation" was not public information before the release which has gotten me wondering is there something we don't know yet in the underworld saga? Could it possibly have something to do with Mr.I got drunk on Circe's island and fell off the roof and died? Maybe I'm just being hopeful and reading too far into things but on the wiki page it does say Luke Holt (voice of zeus) is Elpenor.

(Edit: I actually just read Elpenor's page in the musical and apparently he makes appearances in full speed ahead in the ensemble sooooooo..... yeah. I'm probably wrong about him being in the underworld.)Honestly his only appearance is prob gonna just be "CAPTAIN! CAPTAIN! WHY WOULD YOU LET THE CYCLOPS LIVE WHEN RUTHLESSNESS IS MERCY?!" and we won't even be able to pick out Luke's voice

Speaking of chars in the underworld saga i need polites to make a return. Please. We need more Odysseus suffering!!!! Now will jay do it? Probably not. With the song clips we do have I don't think he'd be able to fit Polites in but who knows.

Speaking of Polites I've gone back and listened to the whole entire musical again so I can prep for the underworld saga and Open arms is hitting me hard rn. But the cut songs!!! AAJAJJAJAJAJA. Your light.... I really really really really want Mr jorgy gorgy to include "I only took the blow so you could live." Somewhere in the underworld saga. I mean it's not unreasonable right?!?! He included "all I hear are screams/I keep thinking of the infant from that night" from Ismarus which is a cut song too. Yeah I'm prob just delusional...

Random and off topic: STORM. SWEET ZEUS DID THIS SONG HAVE A COMPLETE 180 IN MY BRAIN. Tbh I hated it when I first discovered it. But now it's literally my second fav song (under Ruthlessness ofc) Its just soooooo good its like ear candy. The little "what?" From Eury when Ody says they're gonna shoot for the sky. All the vocals in the whole song are just amazing!!!

I need to stop for now. I have a billion other things to rant about for this musical but I'm tired lol. I might add onto this later. Actually, knowing myself I'll add onto this when the saga releases. Until then, thanks for reading my rant lol. And if any of these theories end up being correct I'm gonna be so shocked.

Edit: wow. So I stayed up to watch the viewing party Livestream but it was so late that I didn't edit it. But now I'm awake enough and wow. The part with his mom actually made me cry a little. And monster blew me away. But right not I'm still REALLY tired (running off of 5 hours of sleep and my school had a lockdown NOT drill today so it's been a little crazy.) and yeah, really cool saga, tho ocean is still my favorite. 10/10 would recommend. If you like Greek mythology PLEASE listen to EPIC if you haven't already. And uh yeah I'm gonna go to sleep now.

I feel like i keep talking abt it in the forums recently but Pink Floyd's The Wall; rewatched it a few months ago and it managed to make me obsessed w it LOL. despite it being a pretty fucked up movie it's somehow very comfort to me, i guess part of it is bc i already find pf's music overall very comfort and i also enjoy the themes of trauma and social isolation. So yeah i keep watching it and listening to the album on loop i can't be helped it's just so great overall im at loss for words AFJEEF😭

Also if you enjoyed song of the sea i recommend watching the other movies by Cartoon Saloon if you didn't already !! Used to have an hyperfixation on The Secret of Kells when it first was out and it still is my favorite movie from that studio lol (it's also available for free on yt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_T5SwfRQ3M )

allll of my Splatoon ocs; it's been 5-6 years since ive done anything with them, and now ive been giving them proper development!! they make me so happy because they pretty nostalgic for me, and updating them to present time is just the best. ive been writing dabbles here and there, with maybe 20000 so words altogether since I started, which consists of condensed / general backstory, stories of important events, world building notes, lore that intertwines with other characters, and headcanons that become relevant to my ocs stories. All of that hasn't been updated into any of their profiles however, because I really wanna solidify the character interactions and intertwined events since they depend on each other

HIHIHIHI PREPARE FOR A COMPLETELY UNREQUESTED RANT!! [Forgive for any spelling mistakes]

can we talk about how old games are SO underappreciated? Newer games lack that. . . specific vibe old games have about them. And I love that vibe! I love when games are low-poly, or stylized for optimization, or the translation it butchered because the game is so old! In short, I love old games, but I hate that I can almost never find a community around them! One of my favorite old games [And the one that I was introduced to recently] is [ORIGINAL, NOT THE REMASTER] Final Fantasy 9, which has outstanding soundtrack. And the character design. OMG the character design! I see some people praising it but most people don't seem to like it because of the main villain [Who I also think has a stunning design]. I do recommend playing the game together for anyone who does, it doesn't have voice acting [At least the version I played didn't] so it's very fun to voice characters!! A bit hard to remember each one's voices towards the end, but still worth it!

On the same topic of old games, I am incredibly lucky to have found a community around old games like Oblivion/Morrowind and Spore! It has actually been awesome because it's [compared to some] a rather small community so I don't have to stress about stuff as much as I usually do.

usually people ask me why i like that media so much because tbh it kind of sucks LMFAOO but i dont even know myself, perhaps im drawn to certain characters that i can relate too

its also tied in into my interest in reading: dead authors + mildly attractive anime characters = automatic hyperfixation

also its most likely that i like the series is because i created so many goddamn ocs for bsd its actually insane, i have an attachment to the first character i ever created in that series like sometimes i forget that shes not in the actual franchise

i am maybe her biggestfan LMFAO

but im just hyperfixated on cartoons in general, my smiling friends hyperfixation is coming back :^)

what’s up with museums mounting spinosaurus in a swimming position every single time?? there’s very few spinosaurus skeletal mounts because it’s a fragmentary and controversial animal but it’s always swimming when they do make one. it looks stupid and there’s no way they didn’t consider that it could become outdated. spinosaurus was likely more of a heron style hunter, not a swimming hunter. they could’ve just done it standing up and it would be fine! believe it or not, it's perfectly accurate to portray spinosaurus standing. speculative behavior is cool and all but i don’t think it should always be portrayed in stuff that’s meant to educate the public because they will just run with it. people will just take swimming spinosaurus as a fact instead of understanding that it’s a nuanced topic. i also constantly have to interrupt “educational” paleontology content while watching it with my family because they won’t mention all of the theories. i don’t know if it‘s a runtime limitation or they just want to make paleontology sound like a more “certain” science but they say something like it’s fact when it’s just one of many possibilities or straight up wrong. the swimming pose also just looks bad too because it looks like it’s floating and you can’t get a good sense of scale. i would prefer pterosaur mounts to not be flying so you can actually look at the animal closer but that’s a different topic. anyways, spinosaurus is my favorite dinosaur so i would love to see a model that’s not swimming but honestly any spinosaurus model could easily become outdated so it might be a good idea to just hold off for now. sorry for being annoying about a big dead animal 😞 seeing a picture of dimetrodon in class a couple years ago and going down the paleontology rabbit hole ruined me
