Ask questions about my OC’s!

Posted 3 months, 25 days ago (Edited 3 months, 25 days ago) by Lord-Celery

I have been so extremely bored lately I need things to do

You don’t have to read the OC’s bio (heck, some of them still need to be written or updated anyways), just ask a question, and specify who the question is aimed towards!

All I ask is nothing too NSFW (this thread is accessible to everyone after all)

I may not answer anything with immense detail either, my energy has caught me lacking lately even with the good sleep 🥱

Here’s the OCs; https://toyhou.se/Lord-Celery/characters/folder:all/tags:1/tagged:GSS

Don’t know what to ask? There’s some of them OC number question charts floating around like this one;

do any of them like to read? if so, what are their favorite genres? favorite book (or books)?

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez
Can’t get into specific titles of books since I’ve never read much myself so I’ll go off genres lmao

Andromeda is a fan of history! She had quite the collection

Anneliese enjoys some good fantasy books, especially adventure ones!

Abaeron and Irvin like some good mystery novels B)

I’d add Cynemar to the list but he’s more of a puzzle book guy, unless textbooks and biology books count 😂

UndeadRabbit

that's really cool!! they def seem like the types to be interested in those genres ^^

i can relate to liking fantasy and mystery books; i pretty much grew up with them lol

i haven't read a whole lot (mainly the same books/series over and over again) but maybe i can give some recommendations? (totally up to you tho ofc ^^)

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez

Yeah I mainly grew up with fantasy as well, mainly in Elementary and Highschool lol

Of course you can recommend some! Been thinking of getting back into reading books so it’d certainly help :]

UndeadRabbit

awesome!!

one that i've gotten recently is called Nadya Skylung and the Cloudship Rescue!! it's about a group of orphans who've been taken in by the crew of a cloudship (which is a flying ship basically), but then the cloudship gets boarded by pirates, and while the kids escape and hide, the rest of the crew is kidnapped and they have to rescue them

it also has some pretty neat worldbuilding!! warning for violence tho, and Nadya ends up getting shot in the leg and needing it amputated

overall it's a pretty good book imo!!

another one i've read recently is The Folk Keeper

the bad part about this one is the age gap between Corinna (the mc) and the love interest, which isn't super surprising considering the time it was written ig, but it's still a big turn-off; it's a pity though bc it has an interesting premise imo, and it's like the only book i've seen where the mc is a selkie

if you'd like i can go more in-depth, i don't wanna spoil anything right off the bat

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez

Ohhhhh those sound like pretty cool books 👀 (The joys of older books 😭😭😭)

You can certainly go more in depth if you want to!

UndeadRabbit

right? lol

i'm going off of memory alot, so some things may not be correct (also some things may be badly explained, so please bear with me)

i'll start with The Folk Keeper!!

so, it's in first person, from Corinna's pov, and it's written like she's writing in her journal, which is pretty neat

she's disguising herself as a boy so she can make a living as a Folk Keeper; it's never really explained in-depth who the Folk are, but they're these mysterious (assumedly humanoid) creatures that live underground; i think they live in cellars too? idk

then she finds out that she's the daughter of a lord (i think?) and is sent to live with his widow? (again, going off of memory)

throughout the book there are more and more signs of her being nonhuman, then she finds out that her biological (deceased) mother was a selkie, and that she is too

the love interest's name is Finian, and he's not actually a bad character; i don't understand why the romance is there when the story would have been just as good with Finian and Corinna being friends (better even!)

that's all i can remember atm tho

for Nadya Skylung and the Cloudship Rescue, i really want to talk about some of the worldbuilding!!

so the cloudships have these big balloons attached to them and they're full of this special air, and that's what makes them fly

they each have special paintings on them that match the name (for example, the ship that Nadya lives on, The Orion, has a balloon painted to look like the night sky)

the balloons have a ladder going up to them and catwalks around them leading to a door (two doors actually, there's like a sealing system so none of the air gets out); every balloon has a garden inside of it, with animals living in it, and that's where the air comes from; normal humans can't breathe the balloon/garden air, but the creatures that live inside of it can, as well as skylungs, which is what Nadya is

skylungs look like normal humans, except they have gills on their necks with which they can breathe the garden air (not sure if skylungs are evolved humans or a separate humanoid species)

i'd totally recommend it tho!! it's really good and the characters are really well-written imo

also i love the whole found-family thing (it's one of my fav tropes)

and it's SO underrated; like i can't find fanart for it or even someone talking about it!

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez
DAMN those sound like good books

The cloudships though? They sound REALLY cool (and the thought of gardens that produce the special air needed to fly sounds so silly X))

I’m a sucker for some family tropes as well X) (I have like 3 characters that I can think of off the top of my head in the tag on my main post that adopted a child that just so happened to get attached to them lmao)

UndeadRabbit

i'm glad you find them interesting!!

and that's honestly really wholesome!! i also have some ocs who adopted other ocs lol

a while after my oc Wish met Jake (my other oc) she was like "yep, you're my brother now, congrats!" lmao

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez

Aw man nothing beats a good sibling figure, I need more of those kinds of OCs ahaha

Most of my OCs adopted children characters that belong to my friends, only 1 child character belongs to me and I still have to design them xd

Lucian adopted Midas (Midas belonging to friend 1), Abaeron adopted Dot (Dot belonging to friend 2), and the Wanderer actually adopted 2 children, but at VERY different times (Ophira who belongs to friend 1, but their time together was cut short and they separated, Wanderer wanted to find her again but failed. WAAAAY many years later though he adopted the undesigned child who also lacks a name)

Ophira is still alive and she’s an adult by the time the two see each other again, but man did it not feel great losing her 😭

UndeadRabbit

that's interesting!! (and the ANGST)

seriously though, i love hearing/reading about others' ocs!!

also, as a sidenote, maybe i can suggest names for the unnamed kiddo?

Lord-Celery

BeanzAndBunniez

Only the angsty-est! (Also same here, hearing about others OCs is always fun X))

Of course! I’m always open to suggestions
