Optional Prompts:

Pokemon Universe Prompt - You’re out searching for a wild Pokemon, rumor was going around that there was an unusual Shiny in the woods. A Shiny is rare enough, but one with odd traits will be quite the accomplishment. No one had figured out what Pokemon the Shiny is, but you’re keeping an eye out. Suddenly, you spot a slight sparkle in the air. A shiny!

Non Pokemon Prompt - I’ll think of something…

Mestra Mercurii

(using the prompt!)
Mestra heaved her way through the thick forest, pushing aside bushes and low hanging branches that kept smacking her in the face. The mosquitoes that kept buzzing around her weren't making this any better..
*Buzz buzz*
*SMACK*
"Ugh.." Mestra groaned as she looked at her paw. Stupid bugs!
---
After what felt like hours of searching, Mestra was on the verge of just giving up. This would have been her very first shiny - an accomplishment her parents would have been very proud of. Oh well... there's always next time- wait. "What's that?" Mestra whispered, squinting her eyes to get a better look. Were those.. sparkles in the air? Mestra paused and her eyes widened. It couldn't be what she thought it was.. right? She was about to start sprinting full speed towards the sparkling, but she stopped herself, making sure she took light steps and was cautious. Keeping a hand on one of her pokeballs, she crept closer towards the shimmering particles.
There, in the middle of the forest, sat a shiny Wooper! Mestra covered her mouth to stop a gasp from escaping. She couldn't believe it.

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

Mercurii

Abyss sat in the middle of the forest, not knowing the danger that was nearby. She was pretty unusual, having purple gills and chest patterns, as well as odd tail scars. The most obvious anomaly on her was the beanie and scarf she wore, which looked like something a human would wear. Even though she was small, she packed a formidable move - Hydro Pump.

OOC: Would you like there to be a language barrier?

Mestra Mercurii

(Hm.. nah. I think it would make Abyss even more unusual if she knew how to speak the same language. Sort of like Team Rocket's Meowth in a sense, haha)

Mestra attempted to creep closer to the shiny Wooper, keeping a hand on a pokeball. She hadn't figured out which Pokemon she would use to battle this shiny yet. She'd probably have to be strategic; this Wooper could be pretty strong. Mestra recalled hearing stories from other trainers about how difficult it was to capture a shiny compared to a normal Pokemon. Hopefully, this won't be too much of a struggle.
One thing she noticed was the fact that this Wooper was wearing clothes. She came across a trainer's Pokemon every now and then that would be wearing a cap or a necklace—something their trainer had given them. But.. this Wooper didn't belong to anyone, right? Mestra also took note of the strange scarring on its tail. Admittedly, from a distance, she thought those were just odd stripes.

"Now, the question is, how do I approach it?" she thought. "I don't want to scare it off." She rubbed her chin and took a moment to think before eventually coming to a decision with a shrug.
3.. 2... 1!

Mestra leaped out of the bush she was hiding in and tugged one of the pokeballs off of her belt. "I choose you, Bellossom!" The pokeball was tossed up into the air, and a bright blue light shot out of it. Bellossom appeared in its place, jumping happily.

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

Abyss immediately leaped up, surprised. She whirled around, facing a trainer. They barked a command, throwing a capture device into the air. She couldn’t hear what the trainer said fully, but she caught one word - Bellossom. Abyss knew how to speak and understand the humanoid language through careful observing. But she never revealed it to anyone, not even other Pokemon.

Wait isn’t Bellossom a Grass type!? She thought to herself, panicked. The Wooper grimaced as a Grass type, or a Leaf Beast, as she called them, emerged from the capture device, landing on the ground with an odd noise. Abyss hated Grass types, but she could defend them pretty well, using the move Ice Beam.

She tensed. Let’s get this over with..

Mestra Mercurii

Mestra smiled with determination. She was going to catch this shiny not matter what! "Bellossom, use Razor Leaf!" The Bellossom gave a sharp nod before throwing it's arms up in the air and letting out a cry. Sharp leaves that emitted a bright green glow were being conjured up, and they were aiming straight for the Wooper. Bellossom let out yet another cry and the razor-shaped leaves raced towards the Pokemon.

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

Abyss shrieked as the leaves whirled towards her. She glanced at her tail, scars from a Razor Leaf….in the moment of panic, Abyss was struck by the Grass move, flying into the air with a yelp. She landed on her tail, saving herself.

Mestra Mercurii

"Now, Bellossom, use Leaf Storm!" Mestra commanded. Bellossom nodded once more, launching itself up into the air. A strong wind started to pick up and a flurry of leaves began to circulate the grass Pokemon. The leaves quickly formed into a small tornado, growing bigger by the second, and once ready, Bellossom sent the tornado towards the Wooper.
If Mestra had to be honest, she did feel bad. Using such harsh moves on the small Wooper felt unfair, though at the same time she didn't want it to run off.

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

The Wooper dodged the swirling storm by a hair, and considered running away. No, she would never escape from this diligent trainer. Retaliating, the small Wooper blasted an Ice Beam at the Leaf Beast. This trainer had no mercy for using powerful moves on such a small Pokemon. I guess all they care about is my Shiny status, Abyss thought to herself.

Mestra Mercurii

Bellossom was unprepared and took the Ice Beam head on, getting tossed back into its trainer. "Bellossom!" Mestra yelled with a worried tone. Wow, this shiny really is strong! I need to be careful...
The Bellossom heaved itself back up onto its feet, ready to fight once more. Mestra hesitated for a few seconds but quickly went back to barking another order. "Use Stun Spore!" Bellossom took a deep breath before shooting a sparkly cloud of orange-colored dust out of the rafflesia-like flowers on the sides of its head at the Wooper.

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

Got it! She thought, confident. Unfortunately, in her moment of pride, Abyss was hit straight on by the Stun Spore. She tried to move her body, but her entire body was incapacitated and paralyzed. Her only hope was to try and break out or reason with the Bellossom. She spoke in the Pokemon language, making sure not to mess up and switch to the humanoid language. "Why are you doing this? Why are you serving them?" She asked the Grass type.

OOC: Tell me if the Pokemon have no language and I can replace that part-//

Mestra Mercurii

The Bellossom paused, looking up and blinking slowly at the Wooper. "Bellossom? What's wrong?" Mestra asked, eyeing the Pokemon with confusion etched on her face. It averted its gaze between Mestra and the Wooper before finally speaking, though of course, Mestra did not understand what it was saying. "Whatever do you mean?" It asked as it tilted its head. "This is normal between trainer and Pokemon. Battling others is normal."

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

Abyss tried to convince them to stop attacking. ”Think about this. If you capture me, I am torn away from my home and forest friends. Why do they want to catch me? Surely you understand some of their language.” She pretended to not understand the trainer, when she actually understood every single word.

Mestra Mercurii

Bellossom was quiet before eventually speaking up. "They want to catch you because.. you're a unique Pokemon." It cautiously stepped closer. "I know you wouldn't like to leave your forest, but this trainer has treated their Pokemon quite well!" Bellossom gave a hopeful smile, but it also understood the Wooper's worries. When Bellossom was first caught, it too was unsure of the trainer, but it soon warmed up to them, enjoying every moment they spent together and bonding as time went on. Its smile faded once more. "But if that's really what you want.. I can.." It hesitated for a few seconds. "I can let you go."

Abyss AvaTheAxolotl

“Unique?” Abyss asked, pretending to be unaware of her Shiny status. “The thing is that lots of trainers have tried to catch me, some nicer than others and some harsher. I don’t know if this one,” She gestured at said trainer with her tail. “is kind or rude.” The Wooper didn’t want to leave her forest, as it had been her home since she was an egg. Although with the amount of trainers roaming around, looking for me, she thought bitterly. It might be wiser to leave this area behind. If I can escape this trainer.

Mestra Mercurii

Before Bellossom could speak again, Mestra pulled out a Pokeball and recalled it back to its capsule. "Maybe she was tired," she mumbled to herself. Pushing Bellossom to continue fighting wasn't good. For a moment she contemplated just letting the shiny run off. By this point, much of the Stun Spore cloud had dissipated anyway.
