Basic FE armor info-

Armor in Fire Emblem is simplified, simply only being counted when it is heavy armor. Such armor raises defense immensely but limits mobility, making for a limited range and higher weakness to magic.

Facts about armor that may help when rping or writing stories-

Domestically speaking the act of putting on/taking off armor would take at least a half an hour, require assistance, and would most often leave the wearer covered in sweat. In addition, extra layers are most often worn under heavy armor, increasing chance of heat stroke and making desert climates nigh impossible for these units to move properly in.

Such armor must be oiled to ensure rust doesn't set in. Rain can speed the rusting process by as much as 3 to 4 times. If rust spots do appear, they must be polished and cared for until matinence can be given.
