Breath Details             Breath of Ghost is a style Hideo developed on his own, of which the purpose is to make the user undetectable to the enemy. Hideo developed this technique to compensate for his lack of speed in battle. Ghost Breathing is a derivative of Wind Breathing and consists of 6 forms.

Personality                   Hideo's most notable trait, without a doubt, is his tendency to cause trouble on purpose. He enjoys riling people up and starting arguments, and his favorite type of person is the type who is set off easily. Unsurprisingly, Hideo also seems to have some masochistic tendencies, he appears to be incredibly unconcerned by threats of violence toward him, and often this even serves to encourage him to continue his antagonistic behavior. Although he may be a brat at times, Hideo is also a very caring person, who loves his family and friends with his whole heart and would give anything for them. He is very protective and hates to see anyone else give trouble to his favorite people, even the ones he gives trouble to himself because in most cases, he sees his behavior as playful and teasing and would never want any genuine harm to come to the other person. 

History                           After being abandoned by their parents, Hideo and his elder brother were raised alone by their paternal grandmother and lived a relatively normal childhood. Hideo's older brother grew up and got married to a young girl from the village near their home, and not long after the wedding, she became pregnant with Yoshihiro. Barely six months after Yoshihiro's birth, while walking home late at night after having spent the day in town, the four of them were attacked by a demon. The demon killed Hideo's brother and his sister-in-law and severely wounded Hideo, but he managed to escape and make it back home with his nephew thanks to a demon slayer's intervention. After being treated by a doctor, Hideo confessed to his grandmother the truth of what had happened and was surprised to learn that she believed him. She explained everything she knew about demons and demon slayers, after which, Hideo was determined to become a demon slayer himself. He began training with his grandmother and officially entered the corps a few years later. 

Trivia: 

• His face is almost always flushed as if he were blushing heavily, he has been examined by doctors many times but no medical issues ever have been found that could be the cause of this trait so it is unclear why it happens  
• His boisterous personality often catches people off guard, as his fighting style relies on him to be much the opposite 
• Has an odd talent for identifying animal species, even down to ones with very minuscule differences 
• He has quite sensitive teeth, so he shouldn't be eating a lot of crunchy or sweet foods, but this hasn't stopped him from doing it anyway 
• For the first 5 months of his nephew's life, Hideo was too terrified to hold him. He refused every offer and did everything he could to get out of having to do it 
• Hideo is very good at lying, his only tell is a very slight blush, almost indistinguishable from his usual complexion, only a trained eye can spot it 
• There is a rumor in Hideo's hometown that the Hirakawa family's purple hair is a result of them meddling with spirits and the occult 
• Hideo keeps a very poor sleep schedule, Rengoku had him on a regiment that helped him to regulate it, but this only worked very briefly 
• Hideo is not at all shy about his body, he isn't embarrassed by nudity, and he isn't ashamed of his scars, his stretch marks, or his weight. He often tries to encourage body positivity in others as well 
• Hideo has no reservations about flirting with all his male friends (even Sanemi, who he often argues and fights with), Rengoku is the only one to actively engage him and return compliments, though it seems Rengoku has not picked up on Hideo's intent and sees these interactions simply as friendly behavior 
• Hideo enjoys making jewelry, particularly earrings and bracelets, he was taught by his grandmother. He occasionally sells some of his work at the market, but mostly gives them as gifts to his friends 
• With his skill and unique breath style, Hideo is up for consideration as a Hashira but has not yet received the title 
• The large, dark scar on his arm is from the encounter with the demon who killed his older brother, the scars on his face are from injuries suffered during final selection, and the ones on his hands are from early missions. He considers the small scars on his hands to be too insignificant to bother remembering the events that caused them
• He likes many artistic things, most notably he likes to sing and make crafts, and he likes to draw too, but he is terrible at it 
• His singing voice is very soothing and he's quite talented, but unfortunately, his singing is one of the few things he's actually shy about
