Whimsi (Closed species)

Whimsi are a species of sentient, bipedal photoautotrophs, from the planet Mirth. Despite their inner workings resembling that of plants, whimsi are quite similar to that of humans, both in appearance and cognition. They are capable of self-awareness and creation, having formed their own cultures and societies. 

Whimsi are split into three separate social classes, depending on when they were born: Dawns, Middays and Dusks. Their schooling methods, occupational type, and even potential mates are entirely dependant on their birthday.

Physical properties

• Whimsi are tall, often lithe-built fae-looking creatures. They can come in a multitude of color combinations, all across the spectrum. They have digitigrade legs and long, wispy tails. Their 'pigtails' are actually large, lop rabbit resembling ears. They're often styled in some way.

• Their eyes are 'hypnotic'-looking, coming in two separate colors: The thicker ring (a darker color), and the thinner ring (a lighter color). They see in pentachromacy vision.

• They are able to grow facial and body hair, it just isn't as common as that in humans. A furrier look is actually quite sought after. They grow more in soft tufts, rather than wirey spots.

Behavior

• They are an incredibly social species, but mainly stay within their groups of birthdays. Their society is built around their time of birth.

• Whimsi are intelligent creatures, they need enrichment often and usually enjoy working. However, their jobs still offer them some sort of paid compensation.

• 

Reproduction

• Whimsi are a hermaphroditic species, and once old enough, choose their own pronouns. Until then, young whimsi are simply referred to as 'they' or their names.

• While couples are the most common, polyamory isn't unheard of, and is in general an acceptable expression of love.

Social structure

Dawns

• Dawns are commonly warm, pastel colors. They are the tallest class, varying from 8'00" to 10'00".

• They are most often assigned more 'active' jobs (dancers, builders, athletes, etc).

• They are usually seen awake from morning (1 AM) to the afternoon (12 PM).

Middays

• Middays are commonly bright colors. They are a medium class, varying from 7'00" to 9'00".

• They are most often assigned more 'general' jobs (cashiers, office clerk, nurses, etc).

• They are usually seen awake from afternoon (12 PM) to the evening (6 PM).

Dusks

• Dusks are commonly cool, dark colors. They are the 'shortest' class, varying from 6'00" to 8'00".

• They are most often assigned more 'intellectual' jobs (scientists, engineers, computer techs, etc).

• They are usually seen awake from evening (6 PM) to the morning (1 AM).
