Sir Orwen The Bold

knight of legend

One can hear the name of Sir Orwen the Bold sung by bards all across Indelwood, the heroic knight who slew many a monster that threatened the land. Of course the circle would call for his help against this new threat! There was only on probelm... Sir Orwen retired many years back, disappearing to the countryside without leaving a single way to contact him. The circle's messengers go to find him, but is it really Sir Orwen who they bring back?

"It's a case of mistaken identity! I keep telling you I and NOT Sir Orwen." Robin Redforrest was not very bold, not even on a usual day but even less so when the circle's messengers had shown up to his door and demanded he fight. They declared him, HIM, to be the Sir Orwen of Legend! Despite his protests of the contrary they dragged Robin to Indelwood to face the circle elders.

One of the elders spoke up "Sir Orwen! Now is not the time to lie. You have faced worse than this dark before, do no shirk your duties. Indelwood needs you!"

Another elder spoke, her gaze piercing through Robin, "Sir Orwen was not one to lie, how was it determined that... this was him?"

"Honored elders-"

A young knight interupted the royal messenger, jumping forward from his spot by the wall "I fought beside Sir Orwen! I know his face, this is him!"

"Kendel, hold your tounge." The messenger roughly pushed the knight back to his spot, repriminding him. Turning back to the elders she bowed, "My sincerest apologies. Kendel here is a 'fan' of Sir Orwen and fought at his side in the march of the red swamp. He was our best lead in the search.

The second elder raised an eyebrow, "In the march of the red swamp? I recall that was an army of 500, I doubt this 'fan' got many close looks at Sir Orwen's face. Is he your only proof?"

The messenger hesitated under the elder's stern gaze but held his ground, "No, honored elder. That was our starting point and upon investigating we found 'Robin' arrived in his village just after Sir Orwen's retirement and no one could tell us anything of his history before then. Even then we would hesitate to be certian however," the messenger beckoned a knight who came forward holding a sword. He pulled the cloth off to reveal a shining golden sword with the symbol of the sun goddess. "We found Sir Orwen's sword in 'Robin's' house.

At this Robin reacted, looking up from where he had been standing silently. "Honored elders! I swear to you I had never seen that sword before the day the messengers found it. My wife is a blacksmith, it belongs to her!

The last elder, who had stayed silent in this exchange spoke up. "Enough. This discussion is fruitless. It does not matter if this Robin is Sir Orwen or not, at long as the people believe that Sir Orwen is back. Robin, can you weild a sword?"

"A little, my father taught me-" Robin's eyes widened as he realized the meaning of the elder's words, "You cannot send me to fight monsters! I would die!"

The last elder shook their head, "You have no choice the matter."
