Despina

-Story-

Despina was born into a family of famous fortune tellers, these fortune tellers travelled across different places, their family tree was very well known for centuries, being one of the best fortune tellers, psychics and clairvoyants. Unfortunately for all the people visiting, they didn’t know that her parents and before were con-artists. They were only tricking others to feed their own greed for money. Once Despina was born, she was completely rejected, she was home-schooled, met other people, she was completely isolated, all she has wanted to do was to be noticed by them.

Her father died when she was 11, this because her father was a lot older than her mother. Because of this her mother fell into a deep despair, she noticed she was getting older too and decided Despina needed to join the ‘family tradition’, soon her mother started to very strictly discipline her, she had to ‘act like a lady’ or ‘be a lady’, she needed to learn how to trick people, draw people in and take all they’ve got. Despina disliked the idea of tricking people, but for the first time in her life her mother was actually noticing her, so she did as she was told. When she was 16 she actually got to try her fortune telling on others, but little did she know that her mother was only using her beauty to draw men in.

For some unknown reason her mother started getting a lot stricter, angry and irritated at her, Despina however always stayed quiet and took her shame in. Her mother stopped trying to hide her drinking problems and couldn’t care less anymore, she always spent money earned by Despina. Despina decided it is better to leave her mother, for the safety of herself, and decided she was going to leave when she turned 18.

This thought however didn’t last long, her mother became ill before her 18^th birthday. Despina desperately tried her best to heal her broken mother, but with no money her mother passed, without saying anything to Despina. Despina decided to stay being a fortune teller, she isn’t sure why she went with it. Maybe it was her ‘blood’ saying so, or she thinks that’s what her parents would’ve wanted... or another reason, but she decided that was that. Instead of being a traveller she decided to stay in one place and become well known over there.

-Personality- 

She is a lady and acts noble. When strangers see her, they feel an alluring, beautiful, and mysterious aura surrounding her, which is why she is always approached but she almost never speaks, public or private, she hides herself behind her fan, look the other way, completely uninterested and bitter, she will only accept people who pay her to talk to her, or she chooses to talk to you. She doesn’t feel guilty when lying, she is quite good at lying because of her mother.
