Basic Overview

Naphusias is a Goetic Duke of Hell who commands thirty legions of spirits. He knows of hidden things, tells of all things past, and can be persuaded to tell of many things present and future. He appears before summoners as a gray-skinned man with the legs, tail, and head of a leopard, and four goat horns. He speaks many languages, and is also the only Goetia demon who is not a fallen angel, and who cannot be compelled by the summoner.

All Goetia demons were once summoned by Solomon to help him build a temple to God, and information on how to summon them was compiled in the "Ars Goetia" section of the Lesser Key of Solomon. Naphusias, however, was so unhelpful (due to his lack of interest in the project and immunity to being compelled) that he was the only one not listed.

Growing Up (WIP)

Naphusias, unlike most demons, was born in hell, manifesting from a culmination of its dark energies. He was found as an infant by the Goetic dukes Amduscias and Naphula, who immediately began arguing over which one of them had the rights to the child. They agreed to share custody of Naphusias, and named him after themselves. However, they found it to be too much work, so they made the marquis Ronové--who owed one of them a favor--raise him. However, Ronové took Naphusias with him on one of his frequent visits to Earth and gave him to his illegitimate half-human son, Ruon, to take care of.

Naphusias spent most of his childhood peacefully with Ruon, but as a young adult he was suddenly summoned, alongside a large portion of the demonic nobility, by Solomon, to help build the temple to God. For the most part, he wasn't very helpful, finding more interest in reading scrolls and observing the culture of Israel... his passion for history and the knowledge of all things had been awakened! Strangely immune to Solomon's attempts to compel him into working, he spent most of his time wandering aimlessly around Solomon's palace. However, the scholars and wise men liked talking to him, so Solomon kept him around (although he still found the young demon very suspicious).

After the temple was completed, all of the demons were unsummoned, but unfortunately for Naphusias, this sent him back to hell. However, Goetic King Paymon had taken an interest in Naphusias's penchant for knowledge, and decided to mentor him. Naphusias was able to earn the title of duke for himself, ruling over many legions of human spirits whom he enjoyed conversation with, and became well-known for his intelligence. He started keeping a vast library of books he wrote himself that were available for any demon to peruse.

Later, Naphusias was married to Shiroi-honō, a kasha-neko, and they adopted countless children as well as had a few of their own blood. Once the internet and Wikipedia were invented, he started his own "Hellpedia."

To this day, Naphusias runs Hellpedia with the help of his children. He enjoys both writing pieces on history and reporting on current events.

Abilities

Due to being made of hell's essence, he has a vague awareness of what goes on in all of hell at all times, and can meditate in order to view any place in hell as he pleases.

He perceives time differently from humans--more specifically, he can see all of spacetime at once due to his perception of higher dimensions. This is an uncommon, but not necessarily rare, ability among demonic nobility.

He is immune to subjugation by summoners.

He is immune to stakes, holy water, etc. because he is neither a fallen angel nor inherently evil like other demons.

He does not age.

He can absorb spirits and the souls of dead demons in order to increase his own power (although this is not a power he tends to use).
