Once a prestigious octarian soldier, Eight was frequently experimented on during his duty. After so many tests, Eight's ink broke down and transformed into an oil-like substance, devouring his previously natural blue color. After breaking his hypnosis, Eight is dishonorably discharged and sentenced to the deep sea metro. There, he is left to come to terms with all that he has done as an octarian soldier, drowning in internal turmoil, until he stumbles upon Agent 3. Thus begins Octo Expansion ;)
Present Day, Eight lives with his boyfriend, Xander in Splatsville. There, he does mercenary work, resorting to the only thing he knows best while trying to understand the new world he's found himself in.
Some might call Eight quiet and cold, but rather he just doesn't have much to say. One may not be able to read him very clearly, hardly showing much of an expression on his face. Eight typically prefers to be alone, but finds himself intrigued by life outside of the deep-sea metro. Eight doesn't catch the strange stares he receives when he studies the people of Inkopolis, whether they be looks of fright or confusion. Where he is quick in agility, he lacks in picking up on social cues, but perhaps it's understandable given his life as brainwashed an Octarian soldier.
While his outer shell may be hard and solid, inside is someone soft and warm. Eight yearns for affectionate touches, even just a simple smile thrown his way. He doesn't understand these feelings, however, and will most likely shy away from any show of kindness. After all, someone with a past like his doesn't deserve to be treated with kindness, right?

- The oil poisoning Eight's ink often causes terrible headaches, but he pushes through nevertheless.
- Eight wears the Golden Toothpick on his person at all times, a memento given to him by Agent 3. To Eight, it is both a bittersweet reminder of his dark past and the beginning of his new life.
