Aciel is a low-grade demon in a world where demons are ranked by nobility, lineage, and special abilities. All four tiers are under the rule of the king of the demons, the ultimate being. The ranks include the low-grades, common-grade, high-grade, and supreme-grade demons. Some common grades manage or look out for the low-grade demons while they perform tasks such as manual labor and other labor-intensive jobs. Some low-grade demons are also put in other fields where farmhands and other menial tasks are needed, while others end up serving higher-grade demons in various ways. The grade of a demon can basically determine what sort of job positions one might end up doing. A lot of low-grade demons end up suffering in the fields or places they end up moving in; while a smaller percent of those demons end up securing a better life.

Aciel used to be a child determined to seek a better life. Yet, the longer he went on, the more he noticed that the world he lived in was just too cruel and unforgiving. He witnessed enough atrocities and terror at the hands of the higher-grade demons for him to finally accept that him being a low-grade demon was something he would have to live with for the rest of his life. Therefore, he went from being such an aspiring child to a grown man who has lost all hope. Aciel learns as he loses that spark in his eyes that going with the flow might just be what's best for him.

Early Life

Aciel has always been an orphan for as long as he could remember. He lived in a rundown orphanage that did not make as much as they wanted. With how poor the orphanage was doing, children had to fend for themselves after being fed such small portions and sleeping in substandard conditions. Aciel was no exception, as he would roam the streets in search of anything he could get his hands on. At that point in time, he began to live unfaithful to the teachings of the orphanage, which was the one thing they prided themselves in. Aciel stole and snatched every opportunity for food, anything he could bring back for him and the starving children. From running around the marketplace, to sneaking around and completing tasks in exchange for food, Aciel had to do whatever he could to survive in the slums. As time went by, Aciel was nearing the maximum age a child could stay at the orphanage. They couldn’t afford to spend more time with children who reach the age of 16 years due to limited housing. Aciel missed the chance and had outgrown his stay, which meant that it was required for him to be sent out to do manual work by any company or group of people willing to accept him. At the age of 16, Aciel bid farewell to the brothers and sisters he grew up with at the orphanage.
