Miriam Wolfenlogger

Background: Being the youngest of 5 children, Miriam had to make sure to keep up with the chaos that was being in a full house. No one was ever doting towards her and she grew up learning to be pretty independent. She got along with her siblings like most siblings do, but she was especially close with her eldest brother, Kaysar. Miriam really looked up to him and she always wanted to be just like Kaysar. One of the things Kaysar liked to do was archery and hunting. He was a part of the archery club in school, and he was pretty good at it. He held a passion for it which he wanted to take farther in his life. He wanted to win gold for archery at the olympics. Miriam of course wanted to be just like her brother and wanted to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow. And wouldn’t you know it, she was actually a natural at it. Even as a beginner, Miriam managed to have really good aim with a bow and arrow and she became something of a prodigy. She kept up with it and started to enter competitions and won quite a bit. She didn’t take it as seriously as Kaysar, but she had a lot of fun with it and loved to do something her and her brother could both enjoy together. Kaysar was of course proud of his sister and was glad she was able to enjoy his passion as well. 

Things were going well for Miriam until she was 14, when Kaysar had drowned in a local lake that he was swimming in with friends. This hit the family hard, but especially Miriam who was incredibly close with him. She started going out and going on camping and hunting trips to a small treehouse a couple miles from her house. Kaysar and Miriam used to go on hunting trips and camping there all the time. It was a special place to her, and it’s how she tries to remember her brother. Miriam wants to strive to better herself at archery as well, and try and achieve the dream her brother wasn’t able to do. Archery became less of a fun hobby for Miriam and more of a passion after this point. She continues to strive to get better and perfect her skills at it. That way she can try and get an olympic gold medal, for her brother.

Personality: Miriam is someone who comes off as very dry and aloof with a sarcastic snark to her. She’s someone who is direct, and can be very blunt. People may think that she’s an apathetic person, when that really couldn’t be further from the truth. Even though she talks in a very deadpan voice and can come off as emotionless, Miriam is actually a really passionate person. Miriam does have a flat affect, which is why she tends to speak in such a monotone way and why she doesn’t really seem to show many emotions. It’s something that Miriam is a bit embarrassed about, so she wears her mask in order to hide the fact that she isn’t very expressive. Even if it doesn’t actually work that way, Miriam believes it does and so she prefers to keep the bottom half of her face covered. There’s also the point that she thinks it makes her look cooler. Miriam doesn’t want people to write her off as rude and uncaring though. She’s someone who really tries to put her heart into everything. She is a vigorous and driven person, even if she may not seem like it on the surface. 

Miriam really struggles with processing her emotions. She finds them really complicated, and doesn’t fully know how to sort them out quickly. She may take a moment to think about how she truly feels about a situation, especially if there are so many different emotions that she is feeling at one time. Miriam tends to look to other people for guidance often. For her, having someone to help give her advice really makes things easier for her. In very stressful situations, Miriam can work herself up since she doesn’t know how she should process all of the emotions she’s feeling. When she does get overly emotional, Miriam tends to go silent. She really gets into her head, and she tries to focus and sort out her emotions. However, when Miriam gets things sorted out, or in situations where she doesn’t really need to process how she feels, Miriam is very blunt and honest about her feelings. She’s a pretty honest person in general, just saying things like they are. She can be a bit sassy at times, but Miriam doesn’t really mean any harm. Miriam tries to act cooler than she actually is. This is one way she uses her more aloof personality to her advantage. Miriam tries to act cynical and distrusting of others, but she’s really not like that. She is actually easily trusting of others and can come off as gullible and naive. She isn’t very good at reading other people or their intentions, and she doesn’t really know how to interpret how other people are feeling by their voice and body language. 

Miriam is still pretty immature, sometimes giving off little sister energy. She can be a bit of a brat when things don’t go her way, but she is incredibly earnest. Miriam has a wide-eyed curiosity about things and she is easily amazed at things she’s never seen before. Though, she can be pretty easily distracted and has a hard time sitting still. Miriam carries chaotic gremlin energy inside her, which may seem like it would contrast with her seeming lack of emotion. Sometimes she’ll give off the wall and bizarre suggestions. She has a mischievous and crafty side, which she usually uses good-naturedly. She likes to playfully mess with her friends and tease them a bit. It’s all in good fun on her side, but sometimes Miriam doesn’t know when to really stop. Sometimes, she accidentally goes too far. But she is well-intentioned and isn’t trying to offend. Miriam is very idealistic. She goes along living while putting her thoughts into the most ideal situations. Though, she tries to be more of a realist than optimistic. Rather than hoping for the best, she just thinks about what the best could be. If Miriam gets an idea in her head, then she’s going to try and do what she can to see it through. She is very stubborn and head-strong, however this can cause her to become a bit careless. Miriam is an ‘act first, think later’ type of person. She is very impulsive and tends to be impatient. She tries to reach her goal zealously. 

 Miriam is a bit socially awkward in the sense that she doesn’t sense certain social cues. She can be a bit airheaded at times. And while she may not be super book smart, Miriam is in her element in the outdoors. Especially the woods. She knows how to survive, and she is incredibly resourceful. Miriam is very adaptable and protean to different situations. She is very versatile, and can also be sneaky and quick on her feet. She can act like a really scrappy girl, saying she’s going to beat someone up or that she’s gonna have to pummel someone. But she never goes through with it. If someone actually bucks up to her, Miriam will back down and claim it isn’t worth it. In reality, she is afraid of getting beat up herself. She is all bark and doesn’t bite unless she has to. Miriam is a very loyal person. The bonds she makes with other people really mean a lot to her, and she doesn’t want to sever them unless she absolutely has to. She tries to support her friends when she can, however she does have her selfish streaks. She can be a brat at times, but after some time she usually comes around. Miriam is really creative. She likes to carve wood and sew. Her favorite things to sew are cloaks because she thinks they’re cool. She makes them for both herself and her two pet rats.
