Nadya Sokolova's Links
It started off complicated - and how could it not? Nadya spoke up for him when he was brought to the Little Palace, but truly not out of any charity. A grisha is a grisha and they need all the help they can get. Over time, a grudging admiration blossomed into friendship - one full of bantering and bickering and more than a few "incidents" involving gusts of wind knocking someone over or someone being drenched - and somewhere along the way the ice wolf's heart began to thaw. Their relationship is maybe not the easiest, but there's no one else she trusts more in the world than Kjeld.
Kjeld got the cold shoulder from most people he ran into at the Little Palace (why wouldn't he? Raum didn't make it any easier) and getting it from Nadya wasn't any different. Only, she spoke up for him, and that had to count for something right? He was grateful for her help, and maybe that made it easier for him to relax when things went from a tense sort-of-respect to a friendship. He'd be lying if he said he isn't still surprised that things have ended up where they have – a lot less distanced, though snarking and taunting all the same – but she's the only one he'd lay down the law for. Maybe his devotion should be to Ravka, but Nadya is his home more than even the Little Palace itself.
