Growing up in a small Fjerdan village, life was not easy but it was normal. She was taught from an early age by her grandmother how to heal wounds with herbs, what flowers and plants made the best remedies, her little sister often trailing in her footsteps. Her grandmother never taught her about making poisons, though - she learned that all on her own. As she grew, she took over the unofficial job of the village's healer and wise woman but it only lasted so long. Word spreads and it wasn't long before they were calling her drüsje - witch - and she had a choice to make. She could remain behind and try to plead her case (every village had a wise woman, after all) or she could flee. So she chose to flee, leaving her life and her sister behind, and headed to the kingdom that she had been taught to fear and to hate. She changed her name to fit in more easily, although nothing could hide her Fjerdan heritage truly, and she set about leaving her old life behind in the Second Army. She is focused and very good at her assignments, but her heart isn't in it much. She pines more for the cold, frozen hills that she once knew and the only family she had left behind than she'd ever admit.
