Vallentin Dacien Rosche

Vallentin was born and raised in the village of Tailfeather, spending his childhood learning hunting and chocobo rearing. He grew a fondness for the birds quite easily, spending quite a bite of time with them as opposed to other people. This lead to him being a quieter person, and a little awkward at times, though it was nothing too severe. He enjoyed the company of others, but found words to be difficult, much preferring to show his feeling through actions.

Because of his slight awkwardness and aversion to others it sometimes lead to him being teased through his childhood and teenage years. It was during one of these instances that the other teens of Tailfeather decided to play a prank on Vallentin. Setting off firecrackers near the chocobo stables while he was doing his chores. This caused the birds to grow frightened and try to flee. In the insuing chaos, Val was knocked down and had his hand trampled by one of the terrified birds, shattering the fingers of his right hand.

Despite an easy recovery, Vallentin's fingers were unable to draw a bow properly. Unwilling to be deterred, he simply forced himself to learn to draw a bow with his left hand.

He left Tailfeather when he was 23, desiring to see more than the simple village for the rest of his life. For a small period he stayed in Ishgard; a place so familiar and yet so utterly alien to his upbringing. Of course he knew much about Ishgardians; having been from a place not far from the city state. He didn't, however, really put stock into the stories of how utterly unbearable they were; frustrated traders have a tendency to embellish, after all. Unfortunately, he learned the truth of Ishgardian nobles soon enough. He left not long before they shuttered their gates after the battle of Cartineau.

Val spent all of the events of Stormblood in Ala Mhigo, helping as a Scion with the liberation effort.

It was during the attack on Rhalgr's Reach that an exposion at close range caused severe damage to Val's right ear; leaving him with little hearing in said ear. During his recovery process he began to wonder if the gods intended for him to be left side dominant and were simply attempting to correct their wrongs.

Much like when he was a teen determined to continue his passion for archery despite a shattered hand; Vallentin was not going to let this injury hold him back. It did, however, leave him a little paranoid as he adjusted to it. Constantly lookin over his shoulder, worried for another sudden ambush that he possibly would be unable to hear.
