It's a mystery as to what Vikal's past was like. If anyone asks, he will tell you something different and let you piece together your theory. Theories range from him running away from his family, him killing his family, he was an orphan. etc. No one knows the truth except him, and he finds it very funny that people scramble around to figure out what's truly happened to him. Even the Wardens get a kick out of theorizing what's real and what's not, but to be honest... absolutely nothing he says is true. Maybe he should get into creative writing given all the stories he's told.
