Profile

Personality: Marquee is a demon. Most people get put off by him yet still find something alluring about him. He knows he's pretty but tries not to let it get to his head. He hates the demon stereotypes but likes to play into them to get what he wants. Doesn't trust people easily and is always paranoid that they have ulterior motives. He tends to care about a lot of things but denies it to himself. His indifference is a learned behaviour. There are very few things he is comfortable with showing his affection for. Does the bare minimum of work when he doesn't care about it.

Brief story: Marquee Vangel is the son of a rich family from Ireland, but grew up in Britain. He was homeschooled for the first few years of his life but was later enrolled into a public school. There, he met Duke Chandler, the only person who treated him proper (as in didnt kiss his ass) . He grew up to cultivate problematic habits which got him held back a few years in middle school and high school. Despite all the chaos he surrounds himself with, he was always able to count on Duke to comfort him. He started dating Duke somewhere in their high school years. He's a theater major and one of the school's star actors. But mostly because he is himself when playing the villainous pretty boy roles. He is still decent acting in any other role.

Introspection: Feeling needed by someone special. He keeps himself guarded  until he finds someone he can trust and commits to them. Stems from  estrangement from his father and living in the shadow of his sister.  Everybody wanted to be nice to him as a child but he knew they just  wanted to get in good with his father. (His sister was more gullible to  their praise and she flourished.) He hated it, he hated that people  wanted him for his father's power, he hated that he watched his sister  get taken by the empty praises devoid of real warmth. He associated  success with a world of lies. He does his best to be a dissappointment  as a result, believing it to be his honest self and the only way people  will be honest with him. If there's nothing people can gain from him,  there's no reason for them to kiss his ass. He'll be able to sieve real kind people from two-faced conniving snakes. The person he whole-heartedly loved the most was his mother who was always kind and warm yet firm in disciplining him. He admired her honesty and belief in  her own morals. She reprimanded him when he made mistakes, defended him when he was wronged despite whoever she was facing. He trusted her judgement, and so ended up being the only one he listened to with Minimal protest.

Marquee is actually exactly like his father. He just doesn't know it  because they dont interact a lot. And they're both guardy people. His father fell in love with his mother for the same reasons Marquee loves her. He married her to protect her and allow her to stay the way she is  without having to worry about unfair retribution and cruelty of the real  world. He thinks the world would easily crush or "contaminate" someone  like her. Marquee sees the unbiased kindness of his mother in Otis.  Marquee is protective of Otis.

Marquee and Otis have friction because while Marquee finds himself  content having just one person to love and be loved by, Otis feels the  need to be loved and cherished by everyone. Otis shares his concerns and  paranoid thoughts about people disliking him with Marquee, who always  reassures him that he's done nothing to deserve being disliked.

One  of their fights are spurred by Otis accusing Marquee of being a rich  spoiled brat who doesn't have to worry about what people think of him,  because of the security and safety net his family's power provides. This  upsets Marquee badly because he's always tried to separate himself from  his family's shadow and to have the person he loved discredit his  efforts to not be A Spoiled Little Rich Boy shatters him.

Relations:

  • Otis Dallas - Boyfriend and sometimes unwilling partner in crime.
  • Paris Vangel - His younger brother who he's kinda detached from. He does care about him tho. Mysteriously dissappeared.
  • Evelyn Esteve-Vangel - His older sister who really loves him to the point it annoys him, but he doesn't hate it. He hates her husband though.
  • Cedric Vangel - Dad who's never home. It hurts Marquee's heart to hate his father, but it's too late now to make a connection.
  • Verena Vangel - Mom who's trying her best. Marquee loves her more than anything else, maybe even Otis.
  • Dominique - Initially his theatre rival but they slowly learned about each other and they became feelings jam buddies.

Trivia:

  • He was smitten with Otis on their first interaction but tried to deny it for a while. He thought it was just in his head and he was just tricking himself. He also still forced himself to remember love at first sight was the fakest thing and only existed in books. But i guess eventually he realized he still did fall in love with Otis.
  • Loves high-waisted apparel. Very into scene/goth/emo fashion for himself. But is attracted to neat, casual fashioned people.
  • Hopeless romantic, he must be swooned, he must be romanced.
  • Avril Lavinge is his spirit animal
  • He has a fucking huge Maine Coon cat named G.O.A.T, and a tiny Sphynx cat named Skin, Bones and Eyes.

Marquee was born to the Vangel family, and is the middle child. Media was very into his birth and he was always the subject of interest. As he grew up he was kind of receptive to the attention and enjoyed it quite a bit, but was still bashful, letting his older family members speak for him most of the time, especially his older sister, Evelyn. He interacted with the rich and powerful, not really aware of the fact, and was treated very nicely. His relationship with his father was strained as they rarely met, despite almost everyone talking about that man to him. It cast some seeds of neglect, and thoughts that his father preferred interacting with these other people than his own son. But he had a great relationship with his mother, Verena and older sister. They spent a lot of time together at home, on their estate (it's a chateau with a driveway and garden and gazebo kinda thing). He felt the most loved by his mother, who listened to him and helped him patiently when he had questions and faced troubles. He went to the same private school as his sister, where she involved him in her friend groups and activities when she could. She was one of the popular girls at school thanks to her beauty, intelligence, and cheerful personality. And being rich probably helped. Marquee lived a pretty happy childhood until his sister graduated and went off to college. That's when people started talking to him less, and he soon realized they were only talking to himto appeal to his sister. The thought manifested itself strongly and he started becoming more introverted and unreceptive to people's attempts at talking to him. When he went home and his sister asked how his day was, he wiggled his way out of that conversation. When she told him how much fun college was and all the new friends she was making, it made him feel worse. His mother noticed his change in behaviour and tried to coax his troubles out of him, and he did let her know that he was having trouble with socialising in school.
