About Pitdogs
CLOSED Species | About

Pitdogs are named after the burrows, pits and holes that they make their homes. They are small, muscular dragons with pointed snouts and long bodies. they have a unique horn shape, as their long, pointed horns form a wide u-shaped arch on the tops of their heads. they are equipped with small tusks protruding from their bottom lips, used for digging and fighting. they have four toes on their forelegs and three on their back. pitdogs have two long tails and long limbs, as well as webbing between their toes, on their shoulders, connected from their sides down the backs of their forelimbs, on their backs, and between their tails, used for gliding.

the small Island they inhabit is mostly wide-open prairies, but with a few trees, and one large forest on the side of the island opposing where the kingdom of the hunt is. it contains one creek and one river, and the pitdogs use the water from both as scarcely as possible since they are the only freshwater sources on the island. the royal palace is made mostly of clay bricks and hard stone. it is made up of three parts - the main palace, which is a large structure where the royal family lives, the council tower - a tall tower where meetings are held (and where some of the royal workers live, in the lower levels), and the guard tower, where the armory and barracks is. all three parts are connected by two suspension bridges made of wood.

pitdogs can live both above and below ground. there is several above-ground villages and towns surrounding the royal palace that are full of small clay houses and other buildings, as well as a few entrances to the below-ground kingdom, which is a vast set of tunnels with underground rooms made for fast travel and protection from things like violent storms and attacks from other tribes. (it's sort of like a highway with pitstops lmao).

Pitdogs are carnivores, however will eat nuts or certain fruits as supplements when meat is unavailable.  they prefer their foods cooked and crispy, and will rarely eat raw foods. Living on one of the smaller island on the outskirts of Nyyrikki, their diet primarily consists of fish, birds, and deer.
